Lovely friendly staff, great location! Relaxed from the moment we arrived should have booked two weeks. The Hotel Taverna excellent. Think the room (Athina) could have been a bit better (bathroom a little tired) but my wife really loved it. No problems with noise or hot water as some other reports suggested. We stayed 16th June till 23rd June. The old town has some super restaurants. Greece always had the great ingredients now they use them in a very modern way. You can still get all the old favourites though! Would we go back again to the hotel and island very definitely BUT Heraklion airport on departure is well........it would make us think twice about going again by far the worst Greek departure airport we have known

Room Tip: Athina did not get any noise and hot water all ok. Room is on the first floor with a small lounge area on entry that we did use. All the stuff you need AC, fridge safe etc. But down side no balcony and bathroom clean but a little tired

From the minute we arrived we felt very at ease, we were met off the coach by Apostolis who took our cases and were given a refreshing drink while we checked in.

Our room (Cronos) was just perfect, a beautiful four poster bed (very comfortable) a lovely jacuzzi bath and a balcony to sit on and watch the world (and its cats) go by. It was very clean and very quiet.

The hotel itself is very unique with a gorgeous courtyard to sit in.

The breakfast's were very good with plenty of choice each day.

We ate in the restaurant a couple of times, once, on their Greek Dancing Night, please do not miss this, such a fun night. The food was exceptional, especially the stuffed chicken with seafood and pepper sauce, the best meal I had and that is saying something because everywhere we ate was very good.

The location is perfect, close to everything, a nice stroll to the beach, very close to the harbour and all the lovely shops, bars and restaurants.

While we were here, my husband and I decided to have a tattoo, so if like us you are feeling adventurous, Skindiggers Tattoo Lounge is very professional and friendly.

The people of Rethymnon are so welcoming and friendly, some of the nicest people we have met on our travels around the world, all the bars give you free nibbles with your drinks and the restaurants free desert and Raki.

A final mention to the Staff at Palazzino, wonderful, friendly and warm, especially Christos and Vasillica (sorry if the spelling is wrong) we saw them everyday for drinks and they were always very chatty even when very busy, staff like these are what makes a hotel very special.

Room Tip: Cronos is a very quiet room with a balcony.

This is a superb hotel that is stylish, tasteful, comfortable and charming. It has an atmosphere all of its own that is very welcoming - a real one-off that is usually hard to find. We've travelled extensively but the Palazzino di Corina is at the top of our list for favourite hotels.

It is close to the beach and interesting things to see, near to shops (some very quaint ones), so a perfect location.

Our room was gorgeous, we loved the jacuzzi, had a nice balcony, had no noise problems - in fact we had no problems whatsoever. The room was kept spotless.

The courtyard was a favourite place to sit, very restful and pretty. The pool is small but really is fine for dipping into during the hot days we had in Crete.

The breakfasts had something for everyone, again all great. Such a nice experience going down to breakfast every morning. And sensible times (8am to 10.30am).

The Corina restaurant and the bar/restaurant are excellent. We tried eating elsewhere during our stay but nothing comes close to the food and drink at the Corina - so we ate there most of the time. It would have been good to stay longer than one week (as we did) because more time was needed to work through the entire menu! It was sometimes hard to choose because everything was so nice.

AND... last but certainly not least..... the people that looked after us were just fantastic. They made us feel special from the minute we arrived to the minute we left. So friendly and interested in making us feel comfortable and welcome. Nothing was too much trouble.

This will most definitely not be our only visit and we can now understand why other reviewers have stayed at the Palazzino di Corina on more than one occasion.

Room Tip: I think all the rooms are spectacular and charming from photos on the website.

I agree with other reviewers that this is a hotel with a difference. Small, friendly and charming. The continental breakfast was good. We ate there on the first night and had an excellent meal but chose to try other restaurants on subsequent nights just for the variety. Nearby are great restaurants and plenty of seafood restaurants along the sea front. We didn't experience any noise at night. I agree with another reviewer who said the water supply to their bedroom was a bit hit and miss and we found the hand held shower a bit of a problem but we managed for a week and this wouldn't put us off staying there again. If you like a hotel with a large pool this one isn't for you as the quaint plunge pool sits in a small courtyard in the centre of the hotel. We would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: For peace and quite choose a room on the reception side of the building.

If the perfect holiday requires sleek modern decor, lashings of marble, infinity pools, extensive grounds and entertainment, then try somewhere else. If, on the other hand, you are happy to stay in a conversion of three old houses, where the decor is totally variable, the rooms are somewhat dark, there's no lift to the third floor and the hot water is rather temperamental - but where the owners and staff are happy and friendly, the atmosphere is light and cheerful, where the breakfast is fine and the restaurant can produce excellent food in a great atmosphere, then this is the place. An evening meal for two, by the way, with free nibbles, a first course and main course that is followed by a free sweet and ouzo - and also includes a litre of wine came to a grand total of 40 euros.

The location could not be better and having read that noise could be a problem, we chose a suite which took care of that. Almost all the top Trip Advisor recommended restaurants are within a couple of hundred yards of the hotel (and all deserved the accolade according to ourselves and the other guests we talked to), and places of historical interest such as the fort and the small museums were within a 10 minutes walk. When lying in the sun was on the agenda, a 15minute stroll along the front took you to the main beach where two sunbeds and an umbrella cost 9 euros for the day.

We ended the holiday feeling a great deal,of affection for the hotel which seemed to reflect the reaction of the other guests we talked to. Suffice to say, the experience was such that this random group of guests fully expected to return sometime in the future. We certainly will.

Room Tip: Go for a suite - they are higher, lighter and quieter
