we were there three years ago for three days ..... unexpected cozyness! we loved it. downfloor with a small kitchen bathroom and livingroom, outside a small veranda to relax, a small loft upstairs with double bed ...... it's just in the center of the old town, but it's not noisy, you can relax and just after ten steps you are in the busy city life

Stayed here as a couple in October 2013 having spotted this place on a previous trip. The location is fantastic - the old town is on the doorstep and the beach a few minutes away. The beds were comfortable and it was quiet for sleeping. Rooms cleaned every day and had free aircon, safe and wifi. Reception helpful. We found that the rooms lacked natural light and the artificial lighting (i.e. bulbs) were not sufficient to light the room properly at night, thus, overall, a bit gloomy. Having said this, we didn't spend a lot of time in the room. It was also a bit of a bind to remember each time to switch on the water boiler 20 minutes before using hot water. From Heraklion airport the transfer time is about one and a half hours in a shared minibus (A2B Transfers are good). Cigarettes cost €3.80 for 20 everywhere (even at the airport). Flew with Jet2 and would recommend them and also Sunshine Holidays (Hays Travel) with whom we booked our package. It's worth venturing to Chania on the local bus (€6 p.p. each way - 1 hour) for a lovely day out and also Plakias (€4.50 p.p. - about an hour)

Terrific little hotel in the middle of old reythemnon town!! The cafe in the front is terrific and many sights and restaurants are a short walk away.
This is a wonderful hotel with a court yard feel!

While there are so many great hotels in reythmenon, this was certainly tops in terms of coziness and feel. Well worth the price!!

Pepi studios is the perfect little base camp for people like us who like to explore the local area and restaurants and not eat boring hotel food!

Right in the heart of the old town, which has some wonderful little shops, restaurants and bars and there's always another street to discover! Beaches a 5-10 minute walk away, not the greatest beach in the world, but there is sea and sand and it's hot!

Room was lovely, spotless and cleaned every day. Kitchen seemed to be well equipped although we never actually cooked. Staff were friendly and helpful enough. The pool area is very pretty and always somewhere to sit- the pool is tiny, but more than big enough for a quick cool off. If you want to swim, I guess it wouldn't be for you.

Breakfast in The Bistro was nice and certainly generous portions. Continental breakfast so bread, meat, cheese, coffee and freshly squeezed juice. Service was variable- some days run like clockwork, other days incredibly slow. One day we sat for 40 minutes before even being acknowledged - we complained and the waiter was downright rude to us. That was the only thing to spoil an otherwise lovely holiday.

I should perhaps set the scene to explain our lovely trip to Crete. After a horrible few months, losing my Mum in March and having to deal with the fallout of that, we got permanent residency approved for NZ. We arrived in Crete a day after 2 days of packing up the house, selling the cars, finding a new temporary home for the cat etc etc... some not inconsiderable amount of stress you can perhaps imagine. Crete was to be the beginning of our rather pompously titled 'grand Europe tour'! On arrival at around 10pm reception wasn't staffed but there was a polite note saying the key was in the door for us. We got settled in. Went for a couple of beers and then retired to bed. We had asked for a double but only got a twin room... But not to panic.

The following day I was physically exhausted so didn't do a lot and then ended up sleeping 14 hours straight, the last few months had caught up on me and every limb felt heavy.

The day after was lovely but when it came to bed time I realised just how much I was in pain from the springs pushing through the mattress, especially into my hips. Honestly, the basic rooms are clean, have great facilities, but if you are at all prone to bad back/neck etc please just book a superior room!

After asking if they had another bed the lovely gentleman who runs the facility very well upgraded us to a superior room with a bed that is as good as the one we have at home. So we are in the lucky position of being able to review both the basic and the superior in one review. The superior room was very lovely, with a glass shower cubicle ( I note the comment from another reviewer saying the shower curtain in the basic bathroom can block the plug and stop the water draining away causing an overflow, this is very true!)

Pepi Studios have a fab location, great friendly service and lovely rooms, a great place to stay. We even got a free extension so we could check out late as our plane to Bergamo wasn't until 9.20pm so that was very welcome as it gave us an extra day of much needed relaxation. As I type we are in Lake Garda and I will post a review of our hotel here ASAP.

Room Tip: Go superior if you have a bad back
