“Great Hotel”
Reviewed June 11, 2009

We have just returned after an excellent stay at the Bio Suites. The location was perferct: two minuest from the beach and a ten minutes walk into the old town. We ordered a family suite with two separate bedrooms, but ended up staying in two connecting rooms which was much more convenient with two teenage girls.....The staff was very service minded and nice, the rooms nice and clean. There is a very nice pool/pool area with sun loungers. The breakfast buffet was OK, we tried the lunch buffet one day as well and it was quite good. But if you go in to the old town you will find great restaurants with excellent food.
All in all a very nice experience.

We would definately recommend this hotel and would stay here the next time we go to Crete as well.

One thing this hotel can pride itself is its staff. Everybody from the Reception desk to the maids are polite, helpful, welcoming, hard working, smiling. Even though they may be busy they will always spend and extra minute to speak to you, ask you about your day. My favourite was the mairte d' of the hotel. The hotel is located 10 min walking from the old town, 2 min walking from the beach. This is an Apart hotel so you have an extra room with a lounge area a kitchenette to cook in if you wish and a small dining table. My room on the 3rd floor looked on to the pool. Yes there was some noise at time of children playing- but really if you hate kids then you really have other issues to deal with! The aircon was working perfectly in my room and I did not have to pay extra. Breakfast was very good and dinner for the guests was 10 euro for a buffet dinner with a wide selection of food. True in the old town you are able to eat more authentic greek food but sometimes laying back at the hotel and doing nothing is also nice. There are hundreds of restaurants, bars, icecream parlours, mini markets, supermarkets in the vicinity.

Get the KTEL (regional bus service) and try swimming in Georgioupolis, visit Chania. Get a local bus and go swimming by the University. Don't miss the Fortezza castle.

On the beach front 2 blocks to your left -towards the old town- there is a take away or sit in shop called Thraka with a wide choce of greek dishes or souvlaki all very cheep and tasty to take back to your room and eat at dinning table)

We enjoyed every minute of our stay in this hotel. The location was super - minutes away only from the beach. The staff, from the reception, to the waiters, to the maids were all lovely! Cleanliness of the room and the hotel is general was 100% and the quality of food was good and varied. We have been away at the same time each year to celebrate my husband's birthday but this is the first hotel that has ever acknowledged this. They did so by leaving a large chocolate cake in our room! What a lovely surprize! A lovely personal touch.

We would definately recommend this hotel and if we ever go back to this area in Crete, it would be to this hotel without a doubt.

The Bio Suites Hotel in Rethymnon is in a great location just 50M from the beach, but not on the beach road so it is quieter. The large lobby greets you as does the friendly staff. This hotel has a large pool area (water was very clean) with also a wading pool for the smaller kids. Although there are many sun loungers in the pool area, it is difficult to get one unless you are there before 10 AM. There was only 1 lift that I saw so most people were walking the stairs unless they were checking in or out. Our room was a superior double and the room was very big with Pergo floors and 2 twin beds pushed together. A small kitchen area with a kitchen table which was great for playing cards etc. The bathroom was large with an unusually large shower for Europe, all very clean and funtionally up-to-date. The only down side to the room was the smell of the cleaning products they use. We bought some Oust and small candles which took care of the problem. The breakast buffet was large and good and varied a bit from day to day which is nice. We also had the dinner buffet the first night and it was good and reasonably priced. Parking can be a problem as they have little underground parking and actually discouraged me from using it because it is a tight fit. I was able to park on the street in front of the hotel most of the time. Only once was I forced to be one block away. The hotel has regular programs in the patio area. On Monday they had a traditional Cretan barbeque and then a Greek dancing exhibition. On Tuesday they had a show featuring belly dancers and fire jugglers. So it seems that the hotel works hard at satifying and entertaining their guests. I would definitely stay there again and recommend this hotel to my friends.

We stayed at Bio for two weeks with full board, and loved every minute of it. It was at the end of season, but the staff were friendly and service minded. The food was varied, not exactly a gourmet experience, but ok. Nice rooms, everyday cleaning, sheets changed twice a week and towels at request. Nice pool area. We are already planning to revisit Rethymnon and hotel Bio:-)

Just returned from 2 weeks at the BIO appartments in Rethymynon. We were a little aprehensive as it was booked via the net. What a suprise and relief to find how pleasant it was.
One block away from the beach.
Marble reception constantly being mopped and dusted by staff. Adequatly equipped Bedroom /Kitchenette Shower/Toilet. Balcony. Very efficient air-conditioning. Maids attended daily and changed linen on alternate days. Restaurant and Bar good. Pool very clean. Small Childrens area and pool table. Hotel entertainment also on alternate nights.
Good situation for Old and New Town. I would recommend this Hotel to my friends

during my stay at this hotel, i learned what murphy's law is about. "if something can go wrong, it will go wrong". we arrived late at night, and the room we were given had a faulty a/c. We had to wait till the next morning for the maintainance, as the reception informed us. We did the mistake to open up the balcony door, in order to lower the temperature in this super-sauna room. The noise from the street was loud, the garbage bin was placed exactly under our balcony resulting in having a terrible smell all over our room, and the mosquitos (because of the garbage bin) had a feast in our bodies!
the a/c was fixed after two days, after which, we had to pay for the usage!! We also had to pay for the beach chairs, as this hotel does not have (as we found out)beach usage.
as far as the food is concerned, don't expect anything special. the portions are o.k. though you have to pay (even double the street price) for the water as the hotel serves only bottled water, which sometimes is not even cold.
the room overall is o.k. not very spacious, not very small. a small refurbishment would at least give it the freshness that is missing.
the staff is polite overall with the exception of one or two persons like the maintainance guy who replied "i don't know. if you don't like it, go to another hotel" when we asked "when will the a/c be ready?"!!!
i can go on and on, but the whole meaning won't change. if you think of choosing this hotel for your holiday, the least you can do is to book a room that overlooks the swimming pool and not the street, and try to find the beautiful little tavernas that are all over this town, so that you have a nice meal with good value for money.
