We stayed at this hotel in August 2011 and couldnt fault it. The staff were friendly, the place was clean and tidy, the food was good. We had a room at the back of the hotel and after visiting the room of friends which was overlooking the beach we would definitely pay the extra for the view next time. There was never any trouble getting a bed by the pool though with the beach opposite we didnt go by the pool very often. There did however seem to be no beds available every on the front terrace but again this didnt deter from a great holiday.
The beach is right opposite the hotel and there were plenty beds and fresh towels. The waiters also came down to the beach to see if anyone wanted refreshments.
Rethymnon had a lovely harbour and was a nice place to have a stroll around, though you will be accosted and every restaurant you pass aroud the harbout but this part of any holiday. We loved Crete and visited Heraklion, Knossos and Chania in Western Crete.
We would recommend the Aquila Porto and Crete to anyone.More
