“Don't go there!!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 3, 2011

Very disappointed poor service, all inclusive Russians came 1st, we too were treated like second class travelers. There are far cheaper hotels better situated and with friendlier staff. I won't go there again. On the plus side there was some good entertainment on in the evening. A belly dancer a magician and a great singer with a percussion player, would have visited the hotel to see them again but not to stay. Look around before you commit yourself. Rooms were clean food ok but it seemed we were out of place.

This hotel is in a great position in Rethymnon. The hotel offers All Inclusive and Half Board options. We were Half Board and as our two weeks went by we came to realise that the staff went out of their way to be friendly and ever so helpful to the All inclusive guests but we were treated quite differently. There are two dining rooms and guests are seperated according to their board basis which is misleading because according to the website they boast 2 restaurants but you can only eat in one of them. My husband was pulled up over wearing 3/4 smart pants one night for dinner while other guests were allowed to wear shorts well above the knee. The food was nice with plenty of choice but the staff in the dining room could be a little grumpy and the lady with the trolley should be avoided at all costs. We also found that all the sunbeds were taken well before the pool opening time of 9am by the All inclusive guests with their hotel blue towels, when this was pointed out to reception staff they just shrugged their shoulders. This is our 4th year in Rethynon and we won't be put off going again but perhaps at a different Hotel. We also found that nearly all the guests were either French or Russian. If you do go to Rethymnon or Theartemis Palace please check out Entasis cocktail bar on the main road by the beach about 5mins walk from the hotel. Mario will be at front of house doing his tricks and manoli and his staff will make sure you have a good time and sample the coldest pint of mythos and the best cocktails in Rethymnon.

We stayed for 14 days in this hotel. The hotel is nice an clean. The room maids worked very hard, as well as those in the all inclusive restaurant. Always friendly and in a good mood.:)
The outdoor area was ever so nice, but difficult to get sun beds. Our room had a leak in the bathroom, we informed the reception twice and they promised to fix it, but that never happened. Still, we enjoyed our staying and recommend the hotel.

Spent a fortnight at the Theartemis Palace in June 2011, the hotel was immaculately clean and the staff pleasant and helpful. Our room was modern and comfortable and easily the highest standard of room that we have experienced in any of the Greek islands. It certainly seems that a high standard refurbishment has been undertaken since some of the earlier reviews on this hotel were written. The food was good and the atmosphere in the restaurant relaxed and friendly. Entertainment was provided most evenings which frankly wasn't the best, but Rethymnon town is just a few minutes stroll along the promenade and caters for all tastes, I would certainly recommend getting out and about rather than sitting at the hotel every night. The beach was just a 90 second walk from the hotel. Our room was on the fourth floor and overlooked the pool, we certainly didn't experience any of the noise problems which some reviewers whose rooms were facing the busy main road have mentioned. All in all a first class stay, we would strongly recommend this hotel and have every intention of returning in the future.

We stayed here during Easter week - the staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. Great bar with cocktail hour, swimming pool and sunbeds galore, and within 10 minute walking distance of old town - either by the promenade or through the town itself. When we got too tired walking around, a return taxi cost €5. Staff were all very pleasant, cheerful and delightful to talk to. We got a great recommendation from Desiree on Reception for a restaurant for a 'special meal' - which was not over-priced for the food, wine and service. would look forward to returning there, as a centre to visit other parts of Crete.

There was nothing my friend and I didn't like about this hotel. The communal areas are clean, modern and airy. Outside the main hotel there is a large pool with loads of sunbeds, with a bar and a snack bar. We stayed in the annex across the road from the main hotel, which had a smaller but lovely pool of its own, we never had any problems getting a sunbed. This pool also has a small bar.

Our room was very clean, with daily maid service. The decor was simple and stylish, the large bathroom looked like it had been recently renovated, I liked it better than my own bathroom at home! There is aircon in the room and blackout curtains which we really appreciated. The chairs and table on the balcony were great.

I can't speak for the food really as we didn't go all inclusive (don't bother, there are so many gorgeous tavernas in Rethymno- particularly To Pigadi, Castelvecchio and the Lemon Tree), but breakfast was pretty varied, largely continental although they did an approximation of fried breakfast which looked very unappealing. It's too hot to have a friend breakfast anyway!

Theartemis Palace is a 10-15 min pleasant stroll into Rethymno town, along the beachside road. Although it isn't right on the beach (but I didn't see any hotels that were- there is a road separating all the hotels from the beach), Theartemis Palace is literally a minute's walk down to a perfect sandy strip where there are always enough sunbeds available.

The clientele when we went was largely older people who seemed to like the animation (not our thing- Greek night and a guy who played keyboard and sang classics in a thick Greek accent), but there were also a lot of younger people (my friend and I are 27 and 28). According to the bartenders, very few English people choose this hotel, I don't really know why.

One of our favourite aspects of the hotel was definitely Aristidis and Michalis, the bartenders in the main hotel bar, we loved them!! In general all the staff were friendly and helpful, the receptionists speak pretty good English.

Basically, look no further, I will be recommending this hotel to everyone I know. It is in a great location, close to town and the beach, has great facilities and welcoming staff.

We had a good stay at this hotel in August 2010, together with our 3 teenagers.
There are entertainment every night until aprox 1100 pm. This is positive, but if you whish to have a quiet evening this will be dificult. Likevise - If you have small children that has to get to bed early, this is not the right hotel.
Apart from this, we have only positive things to say about the hotel.
