last year I promised to be back and here I am to find my suite/appart (sea view) as I left it even better , more comfortable, more decorated , and our hosts, now friends Karen and Marinos more welcoming and more generous ….. details are useless to write ….it is the perfect around imperfection …..if ever in Rethymnon or even around Crete...

Room Tip: Sea View Apartment is our second home....

What a fabulous little hotel! We stayed in the Sea View Suite and found it extremely comfortable (the beds are amazing) and the decor charming. Casa Maistra is wonderfully central to beaches and restaurants and the hotel proprietor was really hospitable and gracious. We will absolutely visit again.

Room Tip: The Sea View Suite has beautiful light and a great view. It also has a deck for enjoyng your morning coffee.

We stayed in Sea Panorama suite. Casa Maisrta is perfectly located - in the very heart of old town. Few steps to restaurants and shops. It took us about 15 min walk to organised beach but i was pregnant and with child of 4 y.o. There is a beach just across the street - we swim there several times as well.
Karen is a perfect host. Apartment is neat and tidy, perfect view, Karen brings you everything you need and even more (we had fresh pastry three times a week!) and what i didn't expect at all - she made some washing for us as well - it is a really big help if you travel with children. She met us in the airport - for me it was really very convenient as i came alone with 2 children and big belly)))
The only thing - sea was a bit cold at the beginning - for nice water temperature you should wait till mid june at least (though my children were swimming all the time))))
We liked Rethimno very much and look forward to return to this town and Casa Maistra of course!!!

My family of 4 adults and 3 kids (12,10,5) stayed for 3 nights.

First of all the accommodations are exceptional-the atmosphere and décor are welcoming yet refined. Every detail was planned out well-the color of the walls, furniture floors...Beds were super comfy. The apartment had plenty of room as we stayed in the top suite-the sea panorama which is 2 br. The 2 br were on the upper floor of the apartment but they shared a sort of common living space which also had a sofabed.

Living room spacious-really huge, with a balcony with enough room for sitting and sipping wine while admiring the view.

Kitchen was full and well stocked-Karen thought of everything, from the basic necessities of oil, salt and pepper, to things like curry and sugar substitues! There is no dining table, but there was a counter with high chairs which was adequate for light meals for 4 or 5 people. Anyway. we ate out for everything except for breakfast ( and Karen provided fresh baked delicious bread every morning)

If you are not close with your travel partners it may be a little difficult with the bathroom, since there is only one in the apartment. Again no problem for us, it was squeaky clean, toiletries provided, extra towels and nice fluffy robes were also given, shower pressure decent.

Location can't be beat: We had a great view of the harbor, lighthouse, beach and Aegean Sea, and yet we were within the heart of charming Old Town of Rethymnon. Lots of great restaurants, Karen's suggestions for restaurants were much appreciated. Only thing would be to add the addresses of the restaurants to her guidebook.

Other amenities: free wifi, free calls to US, (and to other countries, but a certain limitation which is explained in her guidebook), extra towels, beach towels and toys, beach umbrella, flat screen tvs in living room, and bedrooms with cable access, laptop in case you didn't bring any other access, Play Station 2 game system with games, fresh bread in am delivered to your door, and of course Karen and her husband, very kind and patient people-she even helped me with an airline check in issue by making the calls herself to the airline

No real cons, but just a comment on the circuit breaker which would trip every so often, again no big deal, we would call Karen and she would come right away, but we felt bad about this and just asked her to show us how to reset the circuit breaker which was easy and no problem.

So all in all, an excellent value for everything-service, accommodations, and location!
