- I've yet to get there, but a bit of feedback before the event - beware the badly geo-ref'd Google map ! the actual hotel seems to be near the beach, east of the city [Rethymnon]; the Tripadvisor map shows an arrow to a more central location - Demotikos Kipos park, where the label Delima Mountain resort misleads merrily. Delima turns out to be a rough hundred km to the east, in the mountains near the small town of Anogia. Welcome to Crete, the best part is getting there !

We stayed here over Easter 2013. We had a fabulous deal and the hotel is beautiful, comfortable and well-situated opposite a lovely beach, with free sun beds. There are two pools at the hotel, indoor and outdoor, and spa facilities. It was peaceful and very relaxing. Recommended. In summer there will be lots of bars and restaurants nearby. Out of season there are fewer but this isn't a problem as there is a taxi rank outside the hotel and the old town and Venetian port are a 5 Euro taxi ride away, and there are scores of places to go there.

Room Tip: There are standard rooms which we had, and rooms with a private pool.

We spent two nights at this hotel and it was a mini vacation inside our 9 days Crete vacation.

The hotel has two sections: a four star and a five stars with common pool. We stayed at the five stars which is 3 years old. Modern rooms, modern furniture , trendy design and a balcony with a seaview. Theyhave the open space shower and sink with no separation with the rest of the room, I never liked that concept of taking a shower or brushing my teeth with my spouse watching, if she want to...

The quality of a hotel stay has alot to do with the service; here the personnel specially at the reception (Uli) was going out of her way to assist us with our requests. She even called the Boutari winery to make sure they were open for a visit.

Breakfast buffet is fine and like most hotel. Orange juice is freshly squeezed in front of you.

Location is at the end of the beach so quiet but is 30 minutes walk to the old town, we had a car so no problem plus the hotel has a ,private parking at no charges.

Room Tip: Ask for a full seaview room, they will upgrade you if it is available.

Since my bike trip across the western Greece and Ionian Sea years back I've always wanted to come back to Greece. Crete was very tempting with world class archaeological sites and close proximity to Santorini. We have picked up Rethymnon mostly because it was placed half way between Chania and Heraklion and easy enough to drive anywhere on the island..
One observation in Crete was that if the hotel is rated as 4 star- it will be most likely 3 star in other's countries standard (ie Spain)- so if you want a decent place to stay in- go for 5 star and definitely no less than 4.

Sentido Aegean Pearl is one of these decent places. The hotel rooms rather on the smaller side but nicely decorated- kind of modern style, with an open plan bathroom and a balcony. They have 3 pools with the section for kids in two of them, although I wouldn't say this is the most kids orientated hotel I've seen. Mostly for couples and older visitors, although we have not been there during the school holidays. The indoors pool was quite small and cool and opening hours were not convenient for an early morning or evening swim- but guess you can use the outside pool. There is also private beach just outside of the hotel across the road and the staff do their best to keep it neat and tidy. For example- it the tide on the day brought some stones, the guard would pick them all up in a big pile aside from the sunbeds.
The only thing that stroke me was the fact that my 3 year old regularly dug through sand to discover some of the new cigarettes buds. Nothing to do with the hotel but it seems Crete attracts plenty of smokers and they all enjoy putting cigarettes out in the sand and leaving them there for others!

Food was nice, large selection of local and European dishes- we have stayed half board. On one night we had some rainfall and the outside tables got soaked which caused havoc inside the premises: not enough of tables for the remaining guests, staff trying to dry up the floors so that no one trips etc Obviously there must very little rain in Crete during the season and no one is prepared for it! But overall dining in Sentido was a pleasant experience.

And finally location: we pretty much enjoyed. The town centre was a 30 min walk away which was a nice stroll after early dinner as you walk on the road along the beach and watch the sunset, ships in the harbour and people walking by. You can take a tourist train on the way back- that goes every 30 min or so and doesn't cost a lot.
We have however also rented a car and I would recommend it to everyone on Crete. The driving in Greece might be a bit challenging but roads are good and you can find some trully beautiful spots. We have discovered a fabulous beach in Bali on the way to Heraklion- picturesque, not crowdy at all with a small fishing village serving fantastic food. Nice change to Rethymnon beach after all.

Would go again!

You will love everything about this hotel - specially if you choose suite with the view to the sea. Food is very good. Stuff is friendly and professional. Everything is clean. Beach is very close. Other people (guests) in the hotel were also very nice.

Room Tip: Suite is the best choice, but any other is a good choice as well.

Stayed here for our honeymoon, nice clean hotel and buffet breakfast had lots of choice. Nice to relax around pool or on the beach just across the road, drink prices a little expensive. Overall a very nice stay.
