Had a brilliant holiday at the Aegean Peral hotel. Having read some other reviews I was a wondering if it would be ok, but it was fine. The issue about the hotel being at the end of the road was not a problem, in fact we preferred it that way, out of the town, quiet, but easily accessible. Admittedly the beach is a bit stones and the sea a bit rough, so not so good for kids, but we just took some beach shoes with us and it was fine. You were given a pass for free sun beds and umbrella, so didn't pay. The hotel is next to the Pearl Beach hotel, which admittedly doesn't seem as nice inside, but shared some facilities.ie. the gym, daytime bar and entertainment, but this wasn't a problem. The hotels had separate pools and a member of staff would come round in the morning to check if we were by the right pool! The pool could have done with some more beds, but there were other smaller pools around the hotel with no-one there. The food was great, excellent selection and great staff! We had a king sized bed and a great room looking over the hotel pool, but our kids had slightly smaller rooms overlooking the side of the hotel, I suppose it's the luck of the draw whether you get a good room or not whether you'll like the hotel as much as we did! It was very quiet and the beds comfortable (even though we could hear next door sometimes,)we did sleep very well. The open plan bathroom was fine for us, but maybe a problem if you went with someone you didn't know so well! We hired a car, but didn't really need it, but a couple of trips to Georgopoulis were great, especially Lake Kournas. €5 in a taxi to town centre, but we walked quite a bit to use up some calories. The gym could do with a bit more equipment in it as there was a queue for the running machine. The entertainment was ok, the kids loved the magician and greek dancing and we went on the tour of the town walk with Rolf which was very good! Would certainly go back to this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a king sized bed

Stayed here in August 2012. We had booked one double and a single but neither rooms were available on our first day so all three of us were upgraded to a honeymoon suite and a 2 storey family room - both wonderful. Moved to proper rooms the next day which were both very clean, comfortable and spacious. Loos worked wonderfully - we had been led to believe that the flush-ability of loos in Crete were a bit dodgy but we didn't find this at all. Very comfortable and big beds in both rooms with fully functioning showers/baths. The air conditioning seemed a little wayward but worked well eventually without that awfully drafty waft of air one sometimes experiences.
Very welcoming and helpful multi-lingual staff. Breakfast buffet (American style so called) had pretty much anything from full English, to pancakes and continental/Swedish style food. Wonderful fresh orange juice machine that occasionally spat entire oranges out of the top, much to the consternation of the staff. Entertaining for the guests though. When we stayed, the restaurant served a buffet evening meal with something for everybody both hot and cold with fresh fish being cooked to order. Local and international dishes. Cafe serving lunch and evening with salads, toasties, Greek food incl locally caught fish. Good local draught lager and local wine. Slightly more expensive than the equivalent outside the hotel but worth it to be able to drift in from the swimming pool area. Evening entertainment several times a week incl magician (v good!), Greek dancing and DJ.
Smallish pool which can also be used by the adjoining Pearl Beach guests but loungers reserved for Aegean Pearl people only. Aqua aerobics led a couple of times a week.
Hotel a spit away from gorgeous sandy beach with loungers (free for hotel guests) and a couple of kilometres from the old town (5 euros by taxi from rank right outside hotel or 1 euro one-way by local bus 10 mins walk away).
Would definitely recommend.

Room Tip: Think I would avoid a ground floor room in the block adjacent to the main. If you have a sea view then be prepared for full on sunshine all day. Those facing east have evening sun and west morning (obvously!) Think all rooms have a balcony. Rooms facing east towards front of hotel will be above the entertainment/pool/cafe area on the ground floor.

Stayed here for our honeymoon, this was our first time to Crete. Having visited Corfu and zante this was definitely the best out of the three islands. The hotel is quiet new, modern and stylish. On arrival into the hotel we didn’t have to stand at reception they told us to sit on entering then we was brought freezing cold lavender flannels and a glass of juice which was excellent. Next a porter came and took all of our luggage to the room. The porter also put the aircon on for us which was nice. The room was lovely and very modern with open plan bathroom, rain drop shower, stereo, flat screen TV and fridge with free bottled water. The room was spotlessly clean and the bed was so comfy! Breakfast was excellent with everything you could want from the typical full English to croissants, nutella, pancakes, fresh omelettes, freshly squeezed orange juice and so on. The hotel is right on the beach and the sun beds and parasols are free to Aegean pearl residents. The main town rethymnon is around a 40-50 minute walk which we only made the mistake of doing once! It was far too hot to walk into town unless you leave the hotel after 8.30-9pm! But walking back is fine, a nice long walk. I highly recommend getting a taxi which you hop into right outside the hotel door its only 5 Euros and it saves you dripping with sweat by the time you have walked there! Rethymnon is a fantastic little town with all the tradition alley shops which sells some great stuff to the higher end designer shops. There are 100s of restaurants to choose from. Just beware of some that are right on the harbour in which the staff just about drag you in! I would say the hotel is not child friendly they were a few children but not many. The hotel rooms are designed for couples and really anymore that that would be a squeeze. They seems to be a sun bed problem around the pool. The pool area is quiet small and it would not be possible to fit more sun beds around. This wasn’t a problem for us as we like the beach. In the 2nd week the hotel became very busy and sun beds around the pool and the beach were like gold dust. All in all we had a fantastic time at this hotel. It is a 5 start hotel but I have stayed at better 4 stars with more facilities then this hotel. Location is perfect!

The hotel looks and feels contemporary and stylish. We had booked a twin room but the hotel provided a double mattress topper for our two single beds pushed together and we ended up with one of the most comfortable double beds we've ever had on any holiday. There was a DVD player in the room but this was not advertised in the TC travel brochure. There are 2 small pools at the front and back of the hotel (with limited sunlounger space) but we tended to use the public beach which is just across the road from the hotel, where the hotel provide free sun loungers for hotel guests. Our stay was just B&B with the breakfast buffet offering a wide selection. The hot breakfast food was not always warm but generally the food was good. For lunch, there is an excellent taverna called Mie Gustu which is a 2 minute walk from the hotel along the beachfront. We only had dinner once in the hotel but the buffet food was excellent. The staff at the hotel spoke really good English and were always helpful. Location wise, it is about 2 km to the centre of the old town of Rethymno, taking 35 mins to walk along the beachfront. A taxi costs 5 euro from just outside the hotel into the Old Town.
