I will begin with the positive - the rooms are spacious (although the beds are harder than titanium) and the pool is large. Unfortunately those are the only positives. I booked this hotel through hotels4u.com, who advertised it as a 4 star; it is a 2 star at best. The drinks included in the all inclusive were meant to consist of beer, raki, ouzo, rum, vodka and brandy. They consistently ran out of vodka, rum and beer and it then took DAYS to replenish these stocks, only for them to run out again within 12 hours.
The meal times are a 'free for all' and if you were at the back of the queue, then you would be left with salad or cold spaghetti bolognese. Unlike one of the previous reviews, I can tell you that the food is not replenished, as they have only limited amounts of the recycled offerings that they pass off as 'freshly cooked', in fact the food is delivered each morning and afternoon in a small car from another hotel, and is only warmed up on site (not very well). The towel they used to clean the kitchen, was left to dry over a fence; the smell alone attracted the flies and you would not believe how filthy it was until you see my photos. My friend and I stocked up on bread and tuna from the local shop and lived on sandwiches for 2 weeks.
The bar closes at 22:45 each night and then the bar staff sit around and drink what is left of the limited alcohol stock. One of the employees is the owners son, who I one day witnessed accidentally drop a glass on the main path leading to the pool. To my utter disbelief, he looked at it and just walked away and left the smashed remains in the middle of the path, where children constantly ran back and forth barefoot. After 10 minutes of waiting for him to return to clear it up, we eventually told a member of bar staff to clear it. This is perhaps a clear reflection that 'the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree', as when the owner finally put in an appearance one day, he failed to address the many complaints of the guests.
I did not book this as a package, so we did not have the option to appeal to a rep for a transfer, which numerous others did and left (BY THE BUS LOAD). I really wish I had read these reviews before booking, as I would have paid extra to change my booking, as it would have been cheaper than having to purchase our own alcohol and food everyday.

If your into self harming then book here!! This really is the pits. Booked as an all inclusive, but had to dine out as the food wasn't fit for pigs and the bar constantly ran out of beer, vodka and rum. Please if you have booked here but have time to change, do not hesitate and change youro booking now. It really is as bad as the previous reviews state.

I stayed at the Italia with my mum. With all the bad comments on Trip advisor I was very worried with what we were going to find. I cant really complain and we would happily go there again,
We wanted somewhere that was quiet, near the beach and hot.
It was exactly as we wanted.
On Arrival Kosta the Manager was very helpful and got one of the lads to take our cases to our room (only 19 on the whole complex), walking past the lovely pool area. The Room was a good size with 3 beds and a large terrace. Only complaint was the one of the curtains had previously been damaged and needed replacing but it didnt bother us and we didnt mention it.

Full Inclusive - A lot of people have complained the Full Inclusive part. The drinks get served in small plastic glasses for round the pool area - makes sense - so no problem there. A choice of Ouzo, Vodka, Brandy, Gin, Wine. Yeah probably watered down a bit - but you just drink more!!!!!! They also did Cocktails which we had every night and no complaints - served in a tall glass (not plastic) and the staff were always pleasant. I would have said the staff were Eastern European and the comment was always "Your Welcome", the more they got to see us the more alcohol went in the drinks and we always had a good laugh with all of them. I cant complain about any of the staff.

The Food - this is where the hotel lets itself down - they are obviously learning but still need to learn a bit more!!!
Breakfast - several juices, bread, cheeses and cereals. No complaints. Served 7.30 - 9.00
Lunch - Gone is the cheese toastie!!! Full meals are provided which includes lots of salad, bread, chips or potato dish, a meat dish, fish dish, mousakka and rice dish. And usually a sweet/pudding. Ice cream was always available and would sometimes include additional sweets. Very nice!!! There was also a drinks machine for tea or coffee whenever you wanted it. Served 12 - 2.
Dinner - Again very similiar to the lunch with a variety of meals ie rice dish, fish dish, potatoes, salad, etc etc.
The staff would start bring out the trays about 7.25 and they would be keep in heaters, but to be honest, if you werent one of the first there at 7.30 then you would queue and find nothing left!!! But in fairness to the staff the sitting was 7.30 - 9.00 so the food would be refilled again, so you could always get something later on.
We stayed for 10 days and to be honest did start to have a laugh with everyone guessing what the meal would be as it was always the same just in a slight variant.
The food was always hot and we were never ill. Kosta (The Manager) is obviously listening to everyones comments and you can see the improvements trying to be made.
I would imagine that it can only get better - I would hope for their sake anyway!!

Entertainment / Pool - There isnt any entertainment. It doesnt say on any web site that there is, so dont compalin about something which you know there isnt. There isnt just one CD playing, we heard a different one everytime we had a meal and all good. There is a pool table in reception for the youngsters. There is a nice large pool for the adults and a kids pool aswell, with some toys for the kids. The Pool area is lovely but if everybody staying at the hotel wanted to have a lie down - then get there early as there isnt enough. It didnt bother us as the walk to beach is 5 mins away, ie over the road!!!
The meal/bar area over looks the pool so it is nice to be in.

The Area - We loved the area. The beach is literally a 5 min walk away, which has notes that turtles are nesting there so nice and quiet. Sandy beach but the further you go into the sea there are rocks - like a volcano made it all years ago.. I suggest if you go in the sea take some sea shoes - much more comfy.
The next village is literally a leisurely 10 mins walk away Adelainos Kampos. There is loads of supermarkets, tourist shops, fur shops !!! (for the russians apparantly) and tavernas and hotels, It is a really nice area and we walked there every evening. There are local buses which which will take you to Rethymnon or the local areas which run every half hour, but be warned always busy so you may not get a seat. There are 2 Taxi Ranks and it costs 10 euros to get to Rethymnon, which is a set price. Takes about 10 -15 mins and is another great place to visit for the day with a lovely harbour area and loads and loads of shops expecially in the old town. Definately worth a visit.

The fact that the area, weather is so great it balances out the food, If you really are fussy about eating - suggest you do B&B and then eat out.

We would definately go to the same place again. No question. A holiday is what you make of it. We thoroughly enjoyed it, It exactly what we wanted.

If you looking for a big hotel with loads of entertainment, lots of food and drink like a big 4 or 5 star hotel - then go to one, not to the Ilatia Village. It is very quiet and that is why we went there.

I would recommend it if you are looking for a nice cheap relaxing hot break away.

This hotel was sold as a 4* - more likely a 2/3, until breakfast, then we reclassified THIS DUMP as a 1*. The staff were the worst I have ever encounted in any hotel home or abroad. I really felt like I was intruding. It was really uncomfortable just asking for a drink as the bar, as the staff were so unfriendly, and we were just getting in their way.

Peaceful is one thing - but the atmosphere at this hotel was horrible. It was so quiet, that on our first and only night, we couldn't help but whisper to each other and were too afraid to even speak let alone try and enjoy ourselves.

Room was big, but tatty and not clean. Every sun umbrella by the pool was broken - every single one tatty and falling apart. Food was bad and the restaurant area also had that errie uncomfortable feeling. Staff horrible and unfriendly. We saw one couple being asked to hand in their passports to reception, but we were not asked for ours - which is weird.

The only good thing about this holiday was the move to a different hotel. The Olympic staff (on the other end of the phone - no Rep at the hotel and now we know why) were actually very nice and understanding and within 2 hours we were in a taxi to another hotel. Swiftly followed by 15 other guests that one day alone - and a few more that we recognised over the next few days.

IS THIS HOTEL STILL OPEN - towards the end of our holiday people started to arrive at the new hotel even though they were booked at this dump. Olympic obviously didn't even bother taking them to Ilatia, because so many of us had already moved out. It must have been empty the week we booked.

DO NOT BE POLITE WE-DON'T-COMPLAIN-ENGLISH-TOURIST - if you end up in this hotel, call your travel agent and get moved asap!

We were sold a 4* Hotel with All Incusive food and drink. We arrived at this hotel at around 4.30am and went straight to bed once checked in. The room was big and clean. The bathroom was small and had no bath tub, just a shower curtain and a sectioned off area to shower in (more like what you get in a hostel while backpacking). There was a lot of general noise coming from outside and other rooms so was hard to sleep in peace. We had missed breakfast so can't comment on that but they serve club sandwiches from 11am onwards. We asked for one and the man pointed at the fridge which had ham, cheese and bread in it and what turned out to be a faulty sandwich toaster. Basically we had to make it ourselves. They only served certain drinks as part of all inclusive. There was no entertainment or atmosphere what so ever, just very quiet. Staff we not helpful or friendly at all, and kind of just ignored guests. This is not what I expect from a 4* All Inc Hotel at all. We managed to get moved to another hotel so we were lucky, there is no way we could have stayed at this place for a day let alone a week.
