“A family oriented hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2012

We visited the hotel for the last seven days. My family and i had a very pleasant stay. The hotel although it is very old it is very well maintained and recently refurbished. It has excellent pools that are very large with plenty of sunbeds. Charis, a friendly young lifegurard is always present. There is a stoney beach at the hotel, not very suitable for children because of the depth and of the big waves at times. You can relax at the sunbeds for a great view though. The rooms are very basic but clean. Our room that was on the main building was not very big, but since we were all day at the pool we really didn't mind. There is a kids club in the resort that my children really loved. Mrs Ritsa, an adorable lady, is the responsible person for the club. She is very sweet and polite with all children.Other members of the animation team were there playing with the children as well. Animation team never rests. They are very enthusiastic and friendly doing a lot of activities. The song Sunshine plays several times a day and many of the guests and animation team dance, having fun. The food during the day was very tastefull and of great variety. We were on All Inclusive basis, which was a great choice. Go for it, it worths it. During lunch time there is everyday greek barbeque meat and all the trimmings. Also, one day a pizzeria is open and the following day an asian restaurant is open and so on. Dinners follow theme nights. The restaurant staff is very polite, hospitable hardworking, just exceptional. The hotel is a 35 minute drive with taxi and costs around 53 euros. You can take the bus if you want (actually you must first go at chania for 2,30 euros and take another bus for other 2,30 to Maleme) which is cheaper but takes longer to get at the hotel. There is also free transportation to Chania Town with a bus from the hotel but on certain times. My family and i, really enjoyed our stay there and we would definetely visit the hotel again.

Room Tip: Go for All Inclusive!

Just returned from a week at the louis creta princess hotel in maleme near chania. The hotel is about 40 minutes away from Chania hotel. Cheaper to hire a car from here than get one at airport as we paid 170 and wanted 400 euros at airport. Taxis are about 95 euros. We stayed in bungalow 717 which is a perfect location as you are about 10 meters from one of the quieter pools so if you have kids it is perfect as you can sit on your veranda and watch the kids in the pool. The pools are massive and are like getting in a hot bath. Slightly cooler in the morning but still very warm. Sunbeds get taken from about 6am and there arent hardly any left by 9.30am. The food is really plentiful and excellent at this hotel, so much to choose from. The amount of meat they cook is ridiculous. Ice cream is available from 10am til 10pm and is really delicious and creamy. Breakfast is plentiful ranging from american pancakes, eggs about 5 different ways, usual full english including beans, bacon, sausages, tomoatoes even eggy bread. Fruit, salad cereals, pastried, breads etc. Douwe egberts coffee machines all over the place and another good thing for this hotel is that they dont mind you taking the food from any of the food serving places back to your room, pool etc as there are trolleys for you to leave your empties on at the end of each block. Animation team work very hard day and night and give it there all but dont expect too much. Kids club is good although you have to keep an eye on your own children as they dont keep track of them or secure them in anywhere. Rooms are basic and quite small but we had 2 adults and 2 children in our room which the amount you spend in it doesnt really affect you it does the job and the air conditioning is great gets really cold during the night. Wifi at the hotel costs 20 euros for 500 minutes but isnt very good in the bungalows but works good at the hotel reception. Again wifi is free in reception but not great unless using the payable wiplus card. Hotel is pretty much spotless as the cleaners are very thorough. Only downside to this hotel is the beach as it is pebbles. Nice beach is aboiut 10 mins away at platanias and agia marina. I would definitely return to this hotel and recommend it.

Room Tip: room 717 bungalow is right next to pool and very handy if you want to keep an eye on the kids in the...

I came to the Louis Creta princess about 9 years ago when I was 17 with my cousin, also 17, mum, grandma and grandad and we all remember it as one of our favourite holidays. The rooms were basic but clean, pool area was brilliant. There was always a lively and fun atmosphere thanks to the animation team who were the best ive ever seen! They were friendly and ran so many activites, hotel entertainment is usually useless but theres was actually good - ok maybe not good but at least it was funny, we laughed every night. We were all inclusive and loved that u could help yourself to cocktails and beer and the food was great.Only drawback was the location, there wasnt much in the immediate area but it didnt matter as the hotel was so much fun. Ive never been back but would definitely like to take my son one day, its a great place for families.

Hotel was poor, needed refurbishment, quality of food below average (similarly to variety), location average for most purposes, service at bars and restaurants good enough with strong English skills. Reception desk poor (worse English skills than waiters and forgot to wake me up!). I wouldn't advise this hotel even to families expecting animation programs, its quality was at the bottom. In general I wouldn't advise to go there to any type of traveller.

For some people a good point could be location quite far from resorts/towns with night life (it is petty quiet) and location just by rather secondary road with low traffic (it is possible to jog almost any time of the day on the side of the road being not afraid about your life (Greek driving style)).

Room Tip: you're better of with bungalows

Dear guest,

We would like to thank you for choosing the Louis Creta Princess as your holiday destination and for posting a comment online.

We are glad to see that you liked the hotel's quiet location and that the service provided to you by our staff at the bar and in the restaurants did satisfy your needs. All of our staff members work very hard and give their best to ensure that each and every guest is left satisfied! However, we regret the fact that you were not fully content with your stay, due to the fact that you thought our hotel was poor and was in desperate need of refurbishment. A future upgrade of the rooms is being considered but for the moment nothing is decided. Regarding the food, we are fresh from an independent survey, which has graded our food quality and variety with more than 90% (all hotel guests were asked to give their opinion). Therefore your comment does come as a bit of a surprise, but we will look into your claims for our improvement. As for your other remarks, we cannot understand why you cannot advise anyone to visit us; after all, we have received many excellent reviews from guests who stated that their holiday at our hotel has been one of the best they have been on. We truly hope that you could give us another chance for us to show you what we have to offer and that staying in our hotel can easily turn into a fantastic and memorable experience.

We would like to thank you once again and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you to one of our Louis Hotels in the future, maybe next time even in beautiful Cyprus!

Yours faithfully

We have just returned from a 14 night stay. We are a family of 4; children are aged 5 and 7 years. We thought the hotel was excellent. The building is lovely and the pools are beautiful. We stayed in one of the bungalows and it was fairly small but absolutely adequate for our needs. The food at the hotel is just fabulous, honestly, really delicious and varied. For lunch everyday there is bbq meat and all the trimmings plus a pizzeria or a chinese restaurant. Dinnertimes follow theme nights- asian or mexican or greek etc. The desserts are also lovely but it is the variety and quality of the salads which i found particularly great. The house wine is much nicer than i was expecting from an All inclusive resort. The restaurant staff are exceptional... Very hardworking and attentive. We knew we were going to a stoney beach so i packed water shoes for the children. I now absolutely love stoney beaches as you can enjoy the sea without having sand stuck to your suncream! There were always sunbeds available on the beach. (There were plenty of sunbeds around the pool too.. Although the ones in the front row were always claimed early...fair enough.) A few days the red flag was up as the waves were big but they were fabulous to watch and we had plently of calm days to swim. The hotel has two animation teams- one russian team employed by tour operator and one mixed nationality team employed by the hotel. They were good and provided some great evening entertainment...especially the musical dancing shows. My children attended the kids club on several days and thoroughly enjoyed it. Jakob and Ritza were great and made my children feel very welcome and loved! However, in my opinion this was the weak point of the hotel as the children's club was not very well resourced and activities each day were too similar. It would have been better if both the kids program and evening entertainment had rotated on a two week basis rather than on a one week basis as we saw quite a bit of repitition. But this didn't take away from our holiday at all...they are just some suggestions for improvement. As mentioned earlier, the hotel is kind of out on it's own with no resort around it. This was fine for us but you should be aware of this fact before you go. We made use of the free shuttle into Chania . Chania is BEAUTIFUL... You must go. I heard an english couple describe it as like York, but nicer! Fab leather shops... If i return i will be taking my birthday money for an expensive leather bag! Another suggestion for the hotel though would be to provide a night time return from Chania... The latest one is tea time. On two occasions the hotel provided us with packed lunches for day trips... These were great! There were very few british people when we were there... I would have appreciated a few more for the kids especially. But despite the language barrier my children made friends and had a great time. All in all, a fabulous holiday and i would return without hesitation.

We stayed at Louis Creta Princess on July 2012, me, my husband and my 2 kids. The hotel is very big with fantastic swimming pools, nice restaurants, nice and clean rooms. Due to all inclusive there is no chance to get hungry. Any time you are hungry there is always something to eat. What did the biggest impression was the staff. I have been to so many hotels but I have never seen so polite people. Everybody was extremely helpful, polite, smily. Our room which was a bungalow, it was not big enough, but it had the necessary space you need for a pleasant stay and above all it was very clean. The hotel has a bus which offer free transportation to Chania city. Also there is a public bus every half an hour just outside the hotel which costs 2,50 euro pp.
The only thing that ruined our holidays, was an accident my son had in the swimming pool of the hotel. But again the staff did its best to make our staying pleasant.

The hotel is in Maleme which means quite a ride from Chania. The room was a bangalow, clean and spacious for the four of us. The pools were large and clean and the beach in front of the hotel was half sandy and half rocky. The reception personel were fantastic. You can also reserve a free bus shuttle to Chania. What was the most impressive was the food. The breakfast was marvellous. The lunch was absolutely delicious and it varied often ( grill, italian, asian etc). The dinner was perfect. The deserts were delicious. On the check out day since we had a late return flight the reception lady said to us that we can have lunch and dinner even though we were already checked out!!! That was an offer that never ever happened to us before!!! In a word we had the best vacation ever.
