This place is really beautiful. As we went there in September, there were not so many tourists.

Unfortunately apart from this, I would never recommend it to anyone: there are sharp rocks everywhere around the island in the water: impossible to get in the sea without falling... And when you try to rest on the golden beach, a guy is yelling "Water, coke, beer please", trying to sell his things. Really unpleasant!
There is no shower or toilets on the island. If you go away from the main path, you will find thousands of papers on the sand, from people who peed there. Seriously disgusting!

Furthermore, we learned on the boat that all restaurant places on the island were closed, so we had to buy everything on the boat (very expensive!)...

Really a waste of time and money.

If you are on holidays in Crete you should not miss thi peace of paradise. We took a boat from Ierapetra for 70 euro return ticket for 4 adults and 2 children. It takes usually an hour in each direction. We were lucky to meet a Bulgarian lady at the buffet-we really want to thank her for her helpfulness. The beach on the island is a dream one-blue chrystal watters and yellow sand.

Very disappointing visit to this so called paradise island, which is just another tourist trap in Crete. There is nothing to do there but get sunburned (10€ the sunbed, enjoy) with the crowds of tourists. You reach the island by 12h, and return to your boat around 16.30 Don't forget to bring your own food and water, since there is just a little shop that opens for a few hours and will sell you water and not for cheap. Ok so the northern beach is nice, as are so many others in Crete, where you don't have to wait before and in the boat for more than an hour in the crowd. And i just can't believe everyone talks about cristal clear waters! The beaches and the water are dirty! There's plenty of waste and trash everywhere, and don't think that by walking a little further you'll find less of it. Don't go have a look behind the little shop : it's a huge rubbish dump. Also, it has been said before : in case of strong wind, you just can't stay at the northen beach, and believe me you won't enjoy the southern one either. There are just so many other beautiful places in Crete, and much cleaner!

The island has a nice beach with blue clear waters but if there is a wind you can not stay there. The other beaches have rocks in the water and it is difficult to get in. The island get crowded when all the boats arrived after 11.30 and you should get an umbrella early enough in order to avoid sunstroke.
