Excelent breakfast, because of the variety and because of the views from the breakfast room. Excellent location (close to the harbour but also to centre town), helpful staff. Renovated rooms. t's a very good value for money.

This hotel is conveniently located downtown, a 5 minute walk from the major street as several top attractions in Heraklion. Rooms were quite tight, with a hard single bed and some wear and tear around the edges (scuff marks on the walls, broken shower doors, etc). Hotel lobby was welcoming, and breakfast was fantastic. Be sure to clarify if it's included in your stay (it was for us), as we received some confusing answers from the staff and went elsewhere on our second day, missing out on a great spread in a wonderful rooftop gazebo. A good place if you have only a few days to spend in Crete and won't be able to visit the far east or west sides (about a 2 hour drive away).

Little did I know that the nearby Megaron is offering infinitely better rooms for half the price. The convenience of the location is undeniable, especially if you're coming or going by boat, but €70 is too much to pay in Crete nowadays to sleep on a hard slab of foam rubber (in the guise of a mattress) with a lump of foam rubber for a pillow in a tiny single room. To be sure, the terrace was roomy and private, the view from the 6th-floor restaurant superb. But I think there must be better deals in this city.

Of the three places we stayed on our trip to Greece, this was the most posh (and also the most expensive). The room was posh, with a bathroom that looked very modern. The balcony was perhaps even bigger than the room, with a beautiful view of the harbor. One night my husband and I sat outside on the balcony, drinking wine and watching the overnight ferries load and depart, lights winking into the night.

The location was terrific -- easy walk to the harbor, obviously, but also close to the Archeological Museum and the bus to Knossos, as well as the main pedestrian shopping streets. The staff was friendly and helpful, willing to hold our bags past checkout time on the day we left and very knowledgeable about where to go and what to see.

There is a supermarket nearby with excellent fresh fruit, a refreshing snack available at once. The hotel's breakfast was quite a spread. While we chose to spend our evenings on our own balcony, the restaurant also has a lovely view of the harbor area. The airport is close to the city -- you can hear planes, but they're not nearly as loud inside the room as out on the balcony -- the windows are thick to reduce noise.

Many people I know have been to Greece but not Heraklion. I found the city charming, and would recommend this hotel to anyone going there.

Room Tip: We stayed on the harbor side, which was lovely.

Great location - just a few minutes walk from the main central area. Nice rooms and very good service. Also, very honest - I left a bag when checking out and they called me later about this and kept it safely until I could pick it up the next evening - it had cash and all of the cash was still there. Excellent breakfast buffet with good local foods.

We stayed just one night after arriving Heraklion airport late in the evening. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. We had booked the Family Room with seaview (for 4 adults), however were a little concerned that the sofa bed might not be comfortable for our two college-aged daughters to share; the management kindly upgraded us to two standard rooms for the same price. The standard rooms don't have the beautiful views but were functional, clean and comfortable (decor a little dated but so what?). The beds are typical 'Greek firm' but we found them to be comfortable. With the windows closed, we didn't hear the noise from the streets below or the planes from Heraklion airport. The air conditioning was excellent in one of the rooms; so-so in the other. The restaurant on the top floor has beautiful views with large panoramic windows overlooking the harbor. Since we arrived late, we had dinner at the hotel restaurant; the food was really delicious (especially the Cretan 'special of the day') and very reasonably priced. The breakfast buffet the next morning was very good with a large variety of choices (scrambed eggs, breakfast meats, cheeses, breads, pastries, cereals, fresh fruit); our daughters that morning were exhausted from the long international travel and the breakfast server offered to bring their breakfast to the room. The location couldn't be better: just steps from the harbor, bus station, and Archeological museum.
