We stayed here for a night. This was a clean basic room with ugly green wallpaper - felt like a hospital. We didn't really like the shower very much - the water leaked from the glass doors. The bed was comfortable, and the balcony was a nice addition.

The breakfast was included with the room, and it was pretty good - a nice variety of pastries, fruits, cold cut, and cheese.

At 75 euros, Heraklion felt a little too expensive compared to Chania, which we enjoyed more.

Stayed here since it was recommended by our daughter. She and a group of college students, studying in Crete, stayed here a year earlier. It was in the center of everything. We walked to the bus stop to go see the Palace at Knossos. We went to the seaside restaurants, the shopping district, the back street restaurants and some of the local historical sites.
The room was medium small but very nice. Bathroom was relatively large with a nice shower. The WiFi was free but not secure. The free breakfasts were really great! Nice variety. Coffee was instant but acceptable. Sandwich cuts of cheese and meats, sweet rolls, boiled eggs, Greek yogurt but canned fruit, tomatoes and cucumbers, and feta cheese to make your own Greek salad with olive oil available by request, and more.
Nice roof top patio, with a couple rooms being finished up that would be really nice to stay in up there. Staff was helpful and friendly.

We have never seen so many down lights in a ceiling EVER!! No worry about global warming here!! Modern hotel with very clean room and comfy beds. Very clean bathroom although it took a while to get hot water through the shower. Breakfast room small but food fresh and good. (Try and count the lights in the room!!) Area is not the best if you have a car as parking is terrible but handy for the port for ferry to other islands. 5 Euro for the safe in the room which was a bit much we felt. Area not the best but seemed like all Heraklion was the same. Staff extremely pleasant and helpful. We stayed here on arrival and the night before departure from Crete and it would recommend for as transit hotel.

Poor location and felt more like a hostel than a hotel. Was loud, outdated, and nothing what we expected.

We had booked a room at the Kastro Hotel, but upon arrival, we were told that the hotel had a water problem that day and they had booked a room for us at the Kronos Hotel (see review) for the night. Even though we didn't stay at the Kastro that night, we were told to come back in the morning for their complimentary buffet breakfast. The breakfast was extensive and delicious. We left Heraklion that day, but stayed at the Kastro at the end of our trip to Crete, and found the room to be large and comfortable. I would say the rooms at both places were of a comparable standard, but we were very impressed with the breakfast and the good service at the Kastro.
