My wife and I have spent a wonderful 1st May vacation in this hotel, it passed more than one month, we still remember your smile; high efficiency of hotel management; dining service regardless of cost; exciting wake up announcement by animation team..., it's a pitty that we lost your night show, bit may be a good excuse for us to come back!

my wife and i spent 3 days at the agapi beach hotel. i was a little wary at first because there were very few reviews on tripadvisor and even fewer in english. but i fumbled my way through the non-english reviews and came to the conclusion that it was worth a try.

i was very pleasantly surprised by this resort. it's not the nicest you'll find, but for the value it was spectacular (i paid about 390 euros for 3 nights on vacations.gr). the food was delicious, the beach was clean and beautiful, and the pools were also very nice. the rooms were also fairly comfortable. i'd recommend getting a bungalow if you have the choice. they seem to be a little quieter and nicer.

some other observations: the crowd here is mostly older and a huge percentage comes from germany, france, and russia. this is why there were so few tripadvisor reviews. one of the staff told me that they get about 25 americans per year. the staff kept asking us where we were from. they were all very friendly and great, though. they seem to have good options for kids if you're traveling with your family. they also offer a lot of water sports activities.

the food options are limited to the buffet restaurant, the taverna (which only serves lunch i believe), and a small italian restaurant that you can only go to once on your stay (it only has a half dozen or so tables so you have to reserve a night). so i can see how the food may get a little boring if you're staying for a long time. but i was only there for 3 days and i love greek food, so it worked out great for me.

i really have no complaints. it's not a 5 star resort, but i believe it definitely deserves its 4 stars. it was comfortable and fun and i wish i could have stayed longer. it's also a great value for an all inclusive (also includes liquor).

My wife and I stayed here for a week at the end of Sept. 06 and had a wonderful stay. We rented a bungalow room w/ sea view that was situated at the far west side of the resort so it was very quiet and private. The meals while busy were very well prepared and the variety was welcome. We had a rental car during our stay so we could tour the island at our leisure and on the 2 days we went exploring for the full day we were provided with a complimentary packed lunch that was more than satisfactory. The area is nice, set amongst small tourist shops and other resorts away from hectic Heraklion. The beach is very nice, though as mentioned you must go to out at 8am in order to reserve a prime chair location, if you do the other guests will respect your towel/spot (this is similar to almost every other beach resort I've stayed at). All in all we had a wonderful time and plan to return the next vacation we plan for Greece/Crete.

I recently stayed at the Agapi, June 1st and 2nd, a more miserable experience have I rarely had at a one star inn, much less a supposed resort hotel of the first order. Certain members of the staff were indeed helpful and attentive. However, the management team was rude, arrogant, and not the least bit interested in solving simplest of guests problems. The beach and the finess center also left something to be desired. Dining was another activity to be done with very low expectations. Good location, sub par amenities, dismal food,
and management I would not allow to opertate a Motel 6. You decide if its worth 400 euros a night ?

My husband recently attended a scientific conference that was held at the Agapi Beach Hotel, and I was lucky enough to be able to tag along.
Please note, this hotel is NOT in Heraklion, it is 4 kilometers down the road. If you are on an active vacation around Crete, seeing the sites and the antiquities, this is not for you. It is a BEAUTIFUL all inclusive, Club Med type resort. Our room was absolutely gorgeous, with a small sitting room attached and a lovely balcony overlooking the pool, the gardens, and the Meditteranean Sea. The serve 3 buffet meals a day that are delicious and absolutely overwhelming. The guests, of course, are mostly Europeans. The vast majority were German. There are direct flights from many cities in Europe to Heraklion.
The staff is helpful and polite. We were there in April, so it was not quite the tourist season and not all of their facilities were open, but there are 3 pools, (one extra heated, one salt water) and some entertainment at night. Taxi into Heraklion is 8 euros, so it's quite accessible.
I don't know why anybody would go all the way to Crete to have a beach vacation. But if that's what you have in mind, this is a great place.

My wife and I stayed 3 days at Agapi Beach. We had a room in the main building that overlooked the ocean. It had a great view. The room and bathroom were above average. The AC hardly put out any cold air though and it was very warm/humid during our stay.

The pools were nice, albeit people started reserving chairs before 8 am (the same as at the beach) even though they weren't going to actually use them until later. This was problematic for there were many unoccupied "reserved" chairs at the beach and pool thoughout the day and none available for those who didn't think of saving a chair. The beach was clean and had the "Taverna" close by where you could get food, beer and soft drinks. It was also supervised by a lifeguard. There were no waves suitable for surfing/boarding. Buy an inflatable raft at the "dollar" store across the street and mellow out on the small waves. You'll have a blast.

The food was ok -- buffet style; wide selection though. The unlimited alcohol is basically unlimited self service beer (one variety) and 3 varieties of screw top wine (ok tasting). They have two bars, one at the pool and the other near the lobby (which opens in the evening) that serves mixed drinks. Those bars carry European brand liquor (No upscale/favored Vodkas or Jack Daniels) and do not know how to make many trendy drinks found in the US (ie Cosmos, Lemon Drops). Nonetheless, the bartenders made great drinks. We tried to do one of the theme dinners - at the Taverna. The entrees were different than what they served in the main hall. The wine and desserts however were the same. The Taverna was short staffed as they had the Poolside Lobster Dinner going on that night so service took a long, long time. If you are to do a theme dinner, then run down to the sign up sheet early in the morning the day before to reserve. This list, like the chairs, fills up fast.

This place was a great deal if you are ok with a cruise ship style stay on land and dont want to be around english speakers. The hotel was mainly occupied by nice Greek, French and Russian folks. The staff was attentative and polite. We would recommend this resort subject to the above caveats. It was a good stay and a great value. This is not a party resort in our opinion as it was occupied by many families and older couples (40-70 years old). There were hardly any people in the 25-35 crowd and no apparent singles scene.

we stayed in this hotel for 12 nights in august.
we were with a large group of friends.
First the staff: VERY VERY polite and helpfull, Eni to the reception was very sweat, and so all the other girls. At the main restaurant they never complain about the noise (all in all we had something like 12children !!!!!) or about cleaning the tables.... Always smiling and nice.ROOMS: at the beginning we had booked a amily room in the main building, well I do not recommend this kind of accomodation, they are pretty old, and noisy. We visited a ot ao accomodations: the suite re really nice, but we choosed two sea view rooms though not connected . This type of room are new and really good. and clean. My friend previously booked a vip bungalow, and had it changed for a suite. FOOD pretty good also. the italian restaurant is disappointingThr taverne was a little bit poor at lunch..Breakfast very good, they had the best bread I've ever eaten!!! ALL INCLUSIVE very convenient. BEACH: nice, large, although not the best in crete. The main problem is a dechettery that you can see from the beach not very far, but finally it didn't bored us more than that! POOL:maybe the major inconvenient, too small, chairs are very difficult to find, always. very busy. Better go to the 2 small pools, less crowed. ENTERTAINEMENT: very good, nice shows for kids and adults. ALL in all avery good place to stay, not to expensive
