We were actually on our way to Ippokambos restaurant for dinner but that happenend to be closed on Sunday evenings, at least off season. So we redirected ourselves to their neighbours, which wasn't exactly a punishment. Surrounded by locals and the odd Dutch couple, Kastella turned out to be a very charming taverna, with tasty food, good wines and friendly staff. For main course we had delicious traditional mydia saganaki (fried mussels) and though that was pretty filling, they wouldn't let us go without a complementary dessert and, of course the customary raki.
Next time I'm in Heraklion I definitively want to try Ippokambos, because of all the reviews here, but if they're closed again, you know where you can find me.
