“Perfect boutique hotel”

Rooms are fresh and large.
Price is very fair.
Staff is amazingly friendly.
Dinner at rooftop was tasty.
Breakfast was fresh and varied.
Location is perfect to explore the town.

A very good city hotel all in all! ( not a resort for people looking for swimming and beach)

And the little cookies everywhere make for that extra thing you remember!

The hotel staff were extremely accomodating from the first email in advance of our arrival right up until our departure. Our VIP room located on the 4th floor was clean, spacious and modern with a charming balcony that overlooked the old harbour of Heraklion. As the hotel's restaurant and pool area are located on the 5th floor, we experienced some noise as a result of a party in the restaurant during our stay however on mentioning this to the reception desk, we received fruit and liquers in our room when we returned from lunch the following day, an invitation to dine at their 5th floor restaurant with their compliments as well as the cost of the night's stay deducted from our bill. I think this speaks for itself in how willing the staff here are in wishing to make every guest's stay perfect. Food in the restaurant was excellent and the inclusive breakfast is particularly noteable (I arrived late one morning and they offered to cook anything I liked as the buffet was winding down) with their homemade cookies a lovely treat. On checking out the manageress again apologised for the noise issue and assured us that this was not a regular issue. In a nutshell, this is a superb hotel, excellently located to walk to Heraklion harbour or to walk into the old town, The staff are sperb and I believe it very much deserves its 5* accreditation.

GDM Megaron

Megaron's biggest advantage is its location. It is most conveniently located near the port, so if you arrive by ferry, you can even walk to the hotel. The town centre and the fort are a stone's throw away. Our deluxe room on the third floor had a balcony and we had a lovely view of the port and the sea. The room was spacious and very neat with a large bed and a very large bathroom. The bathroom had a TV and Bvalgari toiletries!! Very impressive indeed!! The front office staff was very courteous and helpful, especially Elina. Breakfast was a very wide spread and their large variety of cookies and confectionery are mouthwatering. We had dinner at their rooftop restaurant which has an amazing view of the bay and port. Food at the restaurant was delicious and quantities generous. I will recommend the hotel to all those looking for a comfortable stay at a convenient location. It's a hotel I would definitely return to.

First of all beside the fact i had an early flight and arrived at the Megaron before the time arranged , the receptionist was so kind to inform me that i could have an early check in and also upgraded my room to a VIP. The breakfast was one of a kind with a unique collection of homemade cookies( i had the chance to buy some due to my departure) . Very well equiped room with bulgary amentities. Excellent dinning services too.

My wife and I stayed here in May 2013. The Hotel info says rooms ready at mid-day, Booking info says 14.00. We turned up at 16.00 and our room was not ready. We were asked to wait in the foyer!! Receptionist then said she'd upgrade us to a sea-view room but we had BOOKED a sea view room. The thing is the place was empty. We were the only people dining in the evening in the restaurant of this large international hotel. No wonder. The food was average at best. Service amateur. We were served our mains whilst still eating our starters. Ingredients were not as described on the menu e.g roasted cherry tomatoes were sun dried tomatoes incorporated in the dish. Breakfast extensive and excellent. The rooms were very comfortable. Beds excellent. All facilities including a television showing pornography in the bathroom!! Good situation close to ferry port and archaeological museum. Rooftop restaurant not yet open. Pool small - on the roof. Looked fun but may be vertiginous for some. However, expensive room and above average price for an average meal does not justify the overall price. Service not up to scratch in spite of all the fripperies. Disappointing.

Room Tip: Higher floors with sea view avoids some of the motorbike noise from the major port road.
