“Very good.”
Reviewed October 8, 2012

After reading the reveiws we were expecting the worst, however very pleasantly suprised and also shocked at all the complaints. two 20 year old girls stayed there for 3 weeks for most of september. Firstly the food was excellent, I really enjoyed it. We ate out a couple of days but that was due to trips and convinience. There was always something and I'm not really a big meat eater. The chicken was lovely and the soup, which is served everyday was delicious. We were there for 3 whole weeks and the food was still getting our compliments on the last day. We didn't get moved around like everyone else and we we're given a clean, basic room with a pool veiw, of which we had no complaints. The cleaner came every day to tidy our room, provide clean towels and anything else we may need. There is not much entertainment, and I can see how this wouldn't be ideal for families, but we did see a man on a guitar, twice and greek dancers 3 times, but this was because of the length of time we were there. I think for a weekly stay you would see atleast one of these acts. The strip is on your doorstep, 2 minutes away and if you enjoy nightclubbing or wanted to carrying on drinking then this is perfect for you. There are plenty of trips to go on during the day and the trip shop is just outside the entrance of the hotel where you can get trips for a very reasonable price. We went on the jeep safari which was very good, to two water parks and a boat trip, star beach is a very good day out too. The drinks were good, although I'm told the beer isn't that great. There's vodka, malibu, ouzo, barcardi, beer, all the cocktails and that's just to what I no of. Staff we're all very friendly, although some of the bar staff, naming no names, could get a bit grumpy at times. The man on the main reception was very helpful, our door broke twice whislt there, the first time it was really stiff and hard to open, a repair man was straight on it and put a whole new door handle on. The second time the key got jammed the man came and fixed it, again within 10 minutes. I understand that September is a quieter time, so cannot account for June, July time when I've heard it's a lot louder. Our september stay was very pleasant, rarely heard any noise, met so many nice people. For what we payed for our stay, it was very good!

Two people varied lifestyles, one aged 20 the other 66. We had a brilliant time, the hotel is basic but well kept and clean, the food was always hot and different, the staff were friendly, enthusiastic and helpful. Where in the world would you get your room cleaned at 8.30pm because we had traipsed sand in, I only asked for a broom? The room had a balcony, sun till midday and was very private and quiet. The pool area was immaculate and the pool bar open from 11 am until 11pm and was entirely free for all inclusive. Brilliant holiday and we cannot wait to return, great value for money

Room Tip: we had a room at the back of the complex and the air conditioning was astounding, no smells from res...

visited this hotel with friends, arrived checked in..all inclusive wristbands in place..were then told to follow the maid to our rooms,we were then taken out of the hotel, down the street and round corner to cleopatre hostel...humped cases to 3rd(top floor) to be told we could not use allinclusive wrist bands here,we could only sleep here..so refused, dragging cases back to hersonissos reception, guy decided to give us rooms in the hotel we had booked so were then taken to (p) block (which is a separate part of hotel but is linked by metal makeshift bridges that were totally unsafe, even more so if traveling with children..o.m.g these rooms were disgusting, mold from ceiling to floor..large holes in walls and ceiling(that were stuffed with dirty rags) dirty beds and bedding and smelled fowl,so it was back to reception dragging our cases yet again! we demanded the guy on reception rang our olympic holiday rep, however while in reception anna(public relations for hotel) came to our rescue(as she had witnessed some of our party now in tears) anyway she found us rooms in Aris apartment block aprox 2 min walk to the hersonissos hotel.we first in reception a 5pm and it was 8-8.15pm before we had somewhere to put our cases! food in hotel was of limited choice but could usually find something to eat..however on returning to uk,became ill within a couple of days n discovered i had contracted the campylobactor virus and this is usually passed through food poisoning...i will say the staff in the hotel were very pleasant. The aris apartments that we were eventually allocated were fine, clean etc

Room Tip: refuse any room in (P)BLOCK

We stayed here 18/09/12 -25/09/12 due to our flight times we didn't arrive till about 6am on the 19th. We were taken to a room off of the hotel complex by a security chap, this turned out to be in a side road at the back of the hotel a sign above saying Aris studios, i think cell block H would have been more appropriate. There were no bedspreads on the beds, just 2 sheets on each, pipes sticking up through the floor in the room and bathroom, and a shower tray with a curtain round not enough room to swing a cat in. Needless to say we didn't stay in there very long before going back to reception to get a change. We were told to go back at midday to get it sorted. When we went back we were told to go back the next day to which we refused, no way we said, we are not staying in that room when we booked for the hotel, within about 15minutes we were given another room in the actual hotel, this being a lot better. The cleanliness of the room and the hotel in general was very good. In our opinion the food lets this hotel down big time, no toasting machine,no coffee at lunch or dinner unless you fetch yourself from the pool bar, food lukewarm, kept thinking maybe some bacon for breakfast but never happened. no snacks between meals like we have had in other hotels in Greece with a 4star rating which this clearly is not. The location is very good, just a couple of minutes walk to the harbour and strip with all the bars and restaurants selling decent food. The staff in general were pleasant especially Amalia and the waiter that worked along side her in the restaurant. While there we had a roomsafe 20euros no receipt and late checkout till 7pm on the 25th 30euros no receipt again, when we paid for the late checkout, our wristbands were cut off and we were given a card that lasted till 2pm for the all inclusive. We challenged this saying we didn't arrive till 6am on the 19th and weren't being picked up till 2.40am on the 26th after arguing the toss the time on the card was changed to 23.00hrs.

Room Tip: 3rd floor above hotel entrance not a brilliant view but balcony a good sun trap.

the apartments were always kept clean by the wonderful cleaners. but thats where it all stops,
The food was horrable never hot no such thing as a microwave or even a toaster, always the repetitive food every day,If you want english breakfast all you gonna get boiled eggs(fried was only available 2 times within 2 weeks)haricot beans in weak sauce smoked sausage no bacon and scrambled egg(I think it was)and cardboard corn flakes the other two meals lunch and dinner were always warm and the same stuff all the time in 2 weeks and a place serving soup 2 times a day they only had 5 choices
Bar staff service was ok but if someoner spoke wioth them they were in no hurry to serve you hence long ques to be served overall a bad experience
The airport is not much better what a cattle market to get away get off the busses and que up outside for half an hour in the heat(oh forgot to mention the sun best part of the holiday)would not rush back to Crete

Room Tip: we arrived and our room looked out onto a wall so ask for a room change

After reading some of the reviews we were rather unsure what to expect, but in the end we had a really good time and an enjoyable stay. The staff were friendly and helpful, the all inclusive value for money was good, although it ran out at 2pm on our last day and we were not leaving the hotel until 2am the next morning which was rather inconvenient. The food was also fine with plenty of choice. The first room we were given was not good (old fashioned with a view over a wall in the dated and old 'P' block part of the hotel), but they changed us the next day to a much better and more modern room in the main part of the hotel which was fine. The pool area was clean with plenty of sunbeds and the location of the hotel is great - very near the beach and local bars and shops.

just returned from a wonderful 14nights at this hotel. initially we were given a room which was in the other building, and i must say that room was not nice at all. but on complaining that we dont like the room given to us, we were given a room in the main building on the 4th floor. it overlooked the sea. room was nice and roomy and clean. with tv and fridge. Swimming pool was lovely and location was so good that you could just walk 5minutes to the sea. easy excess to shops . Food was nice and restaurant was clean and comfortable. allinclusive times suited us just fine. There were not much night time antertainment, which gave us chance to go for more walks.

Room Tip: 4th floor in the main hotel
