“Small room yet beautiful hotel”

Heraklion was our least favorite city in our trip to Crete. We stayed two nights at this hotel. Lato Boutique Hotel is very well located, easy to find since they have a huge sign that you can see from the distance as you arrive in town.
We stayed at the recently renovated new building and paid extra to have frontal water view. The room was small for the price we paid. The room was nicely and modernly decorated with good comfortable mattress, good pillows and linen. It was well equipped with toiletries and has a mini bar and kettle.
The staff is welcoming and helpful. Parking in Heraklion can be very trying. The hotel has a valet that will park your car for you.

Room Tip: As you arrive next to the entrance of the hotel there is a small alley way. This is were the valet i...

We spent a day in Heraklion, before heading to Santorini by ferry. This hotel is in walking distant from the port, and the bus stop that take us to see the ruins. Lato Hotel is pretty nice and clean. The breakfast is outstanding. We ate at the restaurant on top of the restaurant, and it isn't great.

This hotel is pretty much perfect for a stay in Heraklion hotel its self is small family run hotel and it shows, the staff are very helpful, the restaurant is Brilliant both on price and quality. We had rooms in the annex don't be put of if you are offered a room in the annex its not a problem. Bars and taverna's are 5 mins walk way as is the marina and fortress. We intend to return later in the year, all in all a gem.

This hotel is absolutely amazing! We booked 2 triple rooms which unfortunately did not have harbour view but nonetheless we were greately satisfied by them. The one was huge with one extra room and the second one, although smaller, also had a separate space for the third bed.

Rooms are beautifully renovated and the location is excellent as it is a 5min walk max from the shopping centre of the old town and 2min walk from the harbour. Variety of good restaurants and bars nearby.

Breakfast has a large variety and the hotel's bar and restaurant are very modern and beautiful.

The hotel staff are very helpful willing to give directions and restaurant recommendations and we were really delighted that they arranged the parking of our car every time we returned to the hotel, a service provided for free!!

We had an amazing stay and the hotel is very much recommended.

We dropped in here for one night and liked it so much that we stayed for 2 nights. We were lucky they managed to re-juggle existing bookings to let us have the same room for the second night. Even in March they were almost fully booked.

We were in the boutique hotel side, with a view overlooking the old Venetian harbour and the new port with its huge cruise liners. Because the hotel is on the Venetian walls of the town, all the (much-destroyed) ancient centre with its many tavernas and restaurants are within an easy walk. But we did eat in the Hotel's excellent Brilliant restaurant on the second night and were delighted by the meal we had. We also checked out the Herb Garden restaurant on the roof, which is shut in winter, but has fabulous views and is a superb site for a summer eatery.

We could not have had a warmer or more efficient welcome from the staff, and were lucky enough to bump into the manageress as we left to express our pleasure at having dropped into such a very agreeable hotel. We had a very interesting discussion, and I took the opportunity to express my disbelief at walking into the restaurant and finding a table with 2 smokers belching smoke. The manageress rolled her eyes in despair, and said that sort of behaviour was a real problem. They make every effort to discourage smoking, but some people simply will not obey the law. She was pleased that I had made loud and disparaging remarks about it and wished that more people would do the same. The management's problem is that if they try and enforce the law smokers can get aggressive, and then write disparaging reviews on Tripadvisor! Equally, if it is reported it is the hotel to blame, not the low-lifes who are breaking the law. I had every sympathy for the Hotel.

We experienced the same contempt for the law and other customers in other restaurants, and came to the conclusion that with such an attitude the recent catastrophic events in Greece were really not surprising. We made a point of ostentatiously refusing to go into any restaurant where there were smokers ... we could have starved! A few Police raids and heavy fines would pretty soon fix the problem.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view.

Lato Boutique is a great finding. I stayed 7 nights in this small hotel that has it all: it is quiet, excellent service, elevator, spotless everywhere, well decorated and everything looks new, super comfortable bed, nice bright rooms, nice bathroom, a small balcony for fresh sea air, satellite TV, good buffet breakfast and restaurant/room service. You know you found a great little place when a plate of greek sweets awaits you in the room...
It is perfectly located right across the street from the sea and the venitian fort Koules. I took a seafront room and the view was totally worth it. A short ride from the airport, it is actually very easily accessed also by bus as the main bus station is a 4 minutes walking distance from the hotel that is located on the street just above the station in the direction of the fort. To avoid taking the street stairs with the suitcase, just follow the street going up instead. The hotel has a big sign on its roof so it is easy to find if you look up. The bus station is very useful to visit Knosos, Agios Nikolaos, Rethymno, etc.
Lato hotel is also a 5-7 min walk to Heraklion's center of interests including the center of town, archeological museums, nice restaurants, etc. There is even a small food shop right next door.

Room Tip: Do not hesitate to go for a seafront room on second floor and up. I took breakfast included in the r...

I stayed 4 nights in this hotel after a long absence from the city. A couple of years ago it was so and so, now renovated and with a much better environment and upgraded service I fully recommend it for either a business trip ( in my case ) or for a nice holiday in Heraklion. Strategically situated with nice view is an optimum choice. I found very good the parking vallet service provided, the breakfast was complete and the restaurant offers good quality and tasteful choices ! I also found it very nice that I could take my running shoes and wonder alongside the beach and old harbor of the city. It took me 2 years to visit once again Lato boutique hotel but its gonna be my choice from now on surely. The only thing I would like improved is a little bit more quite, my room ( exceptional from every other point of view) was situated on the 1st floor and I could hear at any time of fay or night people talking at the reception, if this little issue could be addressed then it would be perfect in any aspect! Thank you
