We stayed here for 3 nights in May 2019 and enjoyed our stay. Design flaws marred the room, including: an absence of a shower curtain or screen on the bath allowed water to flood the floor; the toilet roll holder was so close to the toilet I had to remove the roll in order to tear off the paper; there is no shelf space in the bathroom; floor to ceiling bars along one wall decrease the space available between the wall and the end of the bed; the room looked out over a blank wall the room was stuffy and we found it difficult to use the air conditioning; when the key card was not in the slot there was no way to recharge batteries (Ipad, Kindle, toothbrushes, phones etc). Having described these flaws the really positive aspects of our stay include the location of the hotel. It's just across the road from the archeological museum; the bus to Knossos and the ticket dispensing machine are literally outside; the Hop On - Hop Off tour bus is also just across the road; the shopping centre and restaurants are also just across the road. The food in the downstairs cafe and upstairs self service buffet is varied, attractively presented, hot or cold as appropriate and tasty. The roof terrace and pool is comfortable and spacious and we enjoyed a siesta there! The members of staff are all helpful, welcoming, hospitable, knowledgeable and friendly.

On Liberation square the hotel is in easy walking reach of the old town. The bedroom was clean and comfortable although slightly noisy into the night. Breakfast was excellent with a great choice. The staff are friendly.

Friendly and helpful staff! Beautifully decorated place, very pleasant environment. A place in the city where you can enjoy your drink or your food. With a view from above all of Heraklion. A hotel where you can stay both in the winter and the summer.

We loved everything about this hotel. Central to all the main tourist sights and restaurants. It was modern and clean and bright.
Medium sized bedroom was comfortable and spotless.
We made good use of a fabulous rooftop swimming pool which had a large poolside area with plenty of sunbeds and seating. Nice bar at pool.
Exceptionally good buffet breakfast with a full range of dishes and a good fresh fruit selection. I was disappointed with the coffee though, both the filter and machine offerings were not strong enough for me.
Really friendly and helpful staff made our 2night stay very pleasant. We would definitely go back if visiting Heraklion.

We stayed many times in this hotel (first time in 1993 !). It is always a great pleasure to come back, and enjoy the delicious breakfast, the beautiful views, and the central location. We only stayed 1 night this time, but we'll be back next year for a longer stay.
Mr.Liapakis , the Front Office Manager (whom we met several times before) was very helpful and kind. A great hotel.

Dear Mr. Dan R.,
It was with great joy we welcomed you back after all these years!

We are so pleased to read your positive feedback: as time went by, Capsis Astoria went through several refurbishments and services enrichment to guarantee the high level of hospitality tradition we use to offer all these decates. It is nice to hear you have liked everything new in theproperty.

On the other hand, we are happier to know you still appreciate all the oldies, like Mr.Liapakis! Weare a staff oriented hotel chain, many people are still working here, giving their best to make this hotel feel like home. Your comment is very much appreciated and he thanks you for that!
We have noted your promise, we wait for your next year to explore the beautiful island of Crete again, once is never enough!
Have an excellent summer time and thank you again!
