“Good hotel”
Reviewed July 4, 2013

We spent one night at the Astoria Capsis Hotel; the night before we flew back to the UK. It was very central for all we wished to see in Heraklion (next to the Archaeological Museum) and the room was spacious and comfortable (although the mattresses somewhat hard) - with a very smart bathroom. We were disappointed, however, that we did not get the requested balcony. It was rather noisy at night (til about 1:00am) with music coming from the rooftop pool bar, which appeared to be a meeting place for the young and beautiful. However, this did not detract from the pleasantness of our stay, and we would stay again.

I have now stayed in this fine hotel in Heraklion on several occasions and met with Paul at the reception desk. Since that first stay the service, the room and the food has been excellent.

My partner has also stayed on separate occasions and any minor detail of complaint has been dealt in the immediate to ensure that good quality of hotel excellence.

Thank you, Paul and thank you to all the staff at Capsis Hotel Heraklion.

You wont find a better hotel to stay in, in Heraklion than the Capsis Astoria. It's literally just metres for the fabulous Heraklion Archaeological Museum and faces the vibrant square that is the centre of this terrific city. As well as ideally placed to visit one of the most important museums in the world, the bus for Knossos literally stops outside the front door. so for location you won't do better. The Hotel itself is 4 star and deservedly so, good rooms, soundproofed, staff very helpful and the restaurant on the ground floor has simply terrific great value snacks and lunches - you wont' find better value in this busy busy town.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the central square.

Stayed for one night only but had a comfortable stay. Unfortunately I was given one of the few rooms without a balcony and for a lone traveller with little time I found this a big disadvantage. After working, then looking around the centre, all I wanted to do was sit on the balcony and read my book. There is a small pool on the roof top but the constant loud music is anything but relaxing.
The bedroom was quite small but comfortable, the bathroom tiny but probably big enough for my needs. Free wifi, always a plus although I always object to having to pay for it.
Breakfast was adequate but a limited choice. Staff all very friendly and helpful.

Clean rooms, centrally located hotel, excellent breakfast a great rooftop pool even if a bit crowded. What more would you want? This is one of the better options to stay at in Heraklion. It is well located from most attractions and within walking distance from the archeological museum. Also, great shopping nearby.

I spent 3 nights in the hotel and found it a very pleasant stay.
I had been booked into the Junior suite, which had a very comfortable bed, lovely spotless bathroom and a very comfortable living room. The room was very quite, and cool, as the airconditioning worked very well, and was barely audible. The cleaning staff kept the rooms clean and tidy, and the towels and pillow-cases were changed nearly daily. They had a special extra covering-curtain on the windows which kept the bright daylight out and gave me a good restful nap in the afternoon. The staff were very polite and helpful, especially at reception and breakfast.
There was a great variety to choose from at breakfast and a lot of local products to enjoy!
Just a few metres away from the Archeological museum and the city-centre, making it a perfect location! WORTH GIVING IT A TRY!

4 of us stayed here for 5 nights last week and this was our second time. A really Cretan experience not like you usual souless hotel but staffed by very helpful and friendly staff. Lovely big rooms with balconies spotlessly clean, super breakfast, roof terrace with pool and very relaxing atmosphere. Cheap and reasonable.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the sea with a balcony
