Owner description: These labyrinthine ruins are said to have been home to the monstrous Minotaur, a half-man half-bull creature that devoured young virgins.

It was good to use a guide. Even though there is a lot of reconstruction, you still need some imagination for the ruin. A nice break away from the beach resorts.

“Can't tell what's authentic”
Reviewed August 30, 2014 via mobile

Beautiful site perfectly preserved.
The palace plant is impressive and you can feel the majestic.
A little bit touristy. It's hard to understand what's authentic and what has been restored.
The most beautiful part, the royal rooms are not accessible and an obliged guided tour impede to freely walk around the site.
Palace of Faistos is overall a better experience.

“Unbelievable!”
Reviewed August 29, 2014

Its hard to belive that it was build 2000 b.c.. Its recommended to take a guide to understand the history of the Palace.
But remember its open area - and its really hot there!

“overrated”
Reviewed August 28, 2014

not much to see , you can do it in 1 hour . also I advise not to take a tour from the plenty of tour operators in Heraklion but simply jump on the public bus nr.2 from the bus station that takes you right there and cost 1,5 euro one way . The cost of the entry is 6 euro .

“Once - a high level of culture”
Reviewed August 27, 2014

The Minoan Palace of Knossos is worth seeing when visiting Crete, if you are a bit interested in history , how people lived in the ancient Greece. We visited the Palace on a hot day in July 2014.
A sun hat, a bottle of water and comfortable shoes are a must. The landscape is beautiful with
different kind of trees and the cicadas will sing, the warmer the louder.
