“A must to visit”
Reviewed June 3, 2014

The refurbished museum is a must to visit and marvel at the items that are 3-4000 years old and look so wonderful.

“Made Knossos understandable”
Reviewed June 3, 2014

Visited right after going to Knossos, which added to the whole experience. A wealth of artifacts, well displayed. My only complaint was a lack of signage on many items. Must see if you are to understand the Minoan culture better.

“Amazing! The museum that makes the Parthenon sound modern.”
Reviewed June 2, 2014

The one museum I would not miss. Amazing golden jewelry (which would be the envy of every designer and I would love to wear) older than four thousand years. Incredible idoles (tiny statues) with such detail that they look almost alive, and older than six thousand years! Unbelievable frescos, more than thousand years older than the Parthenon.
When one sees such art more ancient than the ancient, one leaves the museum thinking that the Atlantis could have existed, if people around 5.000 BC could have created such art.

The expected assortment of pottery etc is also there to see.

“Fantastic refurbishment”
Reviewed May 31, 2014

I have visited the museum often on my holidays in Crete and visited most recently after it reopened in early May. It was always a wonderful museum but the newly refurbished building makes a really outstanding setting for all its Minoan and other treasures. The displays are very clear and the lighting is perfect. I think this is one of the great historical museums to see.

“Just reopened”
Reviewed May 30, 2014

We visited the newly reopened Archeological Museum and it was outstanding. This museum has all the really good pieces from Knossos and the other archeological sites on the island. It really gives you an appreciation of their culture and historical significance. When you visit Santorini you will see the same Minoan influence in the frescoes.
