This is a must ! Be sure to get there early to avoid the queues and heat. An organised trip with guide is best to get the most out of your visit.

liked it a lot! Were starting a German guided tour at 09.30 a.m. - not so much overcrowded! Took 1 hours time and we were overwhelmed! Never do Knossos WITHOUT a guided tour!

Very interesting wander around the site. We did not have a guide, although these could be hired. There were plenty of information boards around the site. It cost 5E for an aduklt to go in, but woukld avoid the middle of the day because of the heat. You may have to queue to get in, but there were adequate free car parking sites around the area with tavernas outside for that refreshing drink.

It's a good informative place to go and the mix of myth, mystery and sheer AGE of the place is amazing. But thanks to Arthur Evans the original archaeologist who worked there, and his penchant for reconstructing things as he interpreted them, one has a nagging suspicion the whole time. Surely no-one would get away with that in these days.

Knossos is a must see if you are in the area. Part of it has been restored, but it is still amazing to visualize something built so long ago.
