We stayed here for 10 days in Aug 2012. We got the apartment at the end of the raw, which really gives the feeling of being alone on an Island. The apartment is very spacious (we were with 2 kids) and the design is simple and relaxing. What we like most is the generous hospitality of the owners. This is a family owned business and we did feel we are getting personal attention, with answers and help for every question we had. The cafe bar is great to relax for coffee or a snack.
There is a small beach next to the villas which is nice and a much better one 5 minutes from there. Crowed Elounda is 5 minutes drive (for a market, trip to Spinalonga or a doctor visit in our case...) but you really feel away from town when you are at the villa. Check out the taverna next to the windmill on the way to town, its excellent.

i went to elounda looking to rest, swim, eat and explore.

these villas and the family that run them helped me to finally see (after many trips to lesser greek destinations) why so many people have lost themselves in greece.

i loved it.

lida and her family were always available when i needed them and always helpful with advice on where to eat, swim and explore.

the rooms are a wonderful mix of old world charm and modern convenience. my room also had a wonderful view of the sea.

i highly recommend elounda island villas.

I was hoping for a more relaxed hotel without noise. Whenever the bars across the bay were not making too much noise with their music there were families with little kids all around doing it. This was not the case everyday but provided the location I would expect more. Also the rooms inside are left behind, some wooden windows, the bathroom and a few more things i believe could be better. What really gives a lot to this place is the way the villas are formed, lower level is the sofa with an extra bed if you like it to be, in the middle is the kitchen and the bathroom and on top with the great veranda (especially for breakfast) is the builded double bed. Leda the owner is very friendly and willing to help in any way she can. Great home made ice cream ! The small beach across the hotel is not worth it in my opinion, there is a bette one with rocks just 500m nearby.

Dimitra was an excellent guest and we were happy to offer her and her husband our services. It makes me though sad the fact that she is not as sutisfied as expected. First of all if a couple wish to have 100% relaxing vacation they do not travel around the 15th of August when it is the pick of the season and the biggest holly day fiesta for the Greeks. Greeks should know this; even our fereign guests know about this! For 6 months season Elounda Island Villas is THE most peaceful place and only for the above dates there were live music concerts in Elounda village, that no one who decides to travel THESE specific dates can not avoid; it is a fact that everybody knows when traveling around the 15th of August in all around the touristic areas in Greece. I have also noticed that our guest Dimitra has chosen to do her massage therapy in THE most expensive spa in the area and makes a critic there as well that it was expensive...Well, the masseuse that comes to our place after an appointment charges 3 times less and it is one of the experts masseuses that work at that specific hotel. So, it is up to our guests if they would enjoy a massage here or somewhere that will have to pay the 5stars as well!

We stayed 4 nights at this wonderful place. The apartment was the far end unit, with only goat pasture beyond. It is very large, with a terrace on the ground level and a balcony on the bedroom level, both facing the bay and Elounda, which is only a kilometre away, but the location is completely rustic. We had a true double bed. However, the three-level apartment is not suitable for the physically handicapped, although fortunately the stairs do not creak.

Below the Villas is a beach and boat launching ramp, but for really perfect conditions go to the east side of the island (a short drive or longish hike), and you can find a beach entirely for yourself, south of the horrendously noisy (10am - 4pm) beach visited by tour boats. The water on the east side is superbly clear, but beware the little fish taking nips from your body ("fish therapy" for free!).

This is a family run place (mother and daughter), and we were very happy with the service provided. There is a large covered cafe/bar, offering breakfast, lunch, snacks and drinks. A good restaurant for dinner is about 5 minutes away, and across the bridge and causeway (another 5 minutes) is the whole of Elounda to choose from: it is not at all the hoity-toity place you might expect for Crete's "most exclusive" resort town.

Room Tip: End unit (north), facing the sea. However, expect strong winds.

After 4 year of holidays in the Elounda/Agio Nicolaios area we found THE real wonderful and perfect place to spend our most precious time of the year -> It´s Elounda Island Villas.
The location is very special opposite to Elounda city (whereas it´s just 5 min to walk there), surrounded by nothing but sea, meadows and olive trees (It is the ONLY hotel/apartment on the peninsula of Spinalonga).
There is NO other place in the region to have a sunset like you get at Elounda Island Villas. You just need to have a cool drink (you get at the cafe or mix it by your own) and relax at the terrace. You will feel in heaven (like we felt for the last 10 days).
The apartment is clean and convenient and we had a very good sleep, thx to the pleasant wind, that is cooling down the 30 degrees at night. What else we liked was the choice to have breakfast served at the cafe or prepared by yourself in the apartment.
The host "Lida" is very friendly and sympathetic. She is an artist and a very special person.
Booking was easy, prices are feasible and we got exactly what we agreed to get.
Hopefully w´ll come back!

Room Tip: Take apartment Nr.2 - if available

We spent wonderful and charming holidays. Elounda Island Villas is a tranquil location with a relaxing spirit. We had a warm welcome and Lida and her family did everything to feel us comfortable and home. The café is nice located and it offers good and fresh food. We certainly will come back. We spent an idyllic 10 days with Lida and her family in July and couldn't really ask for much more from a real Cretan experience. The location is near perfect - on the small islet opposite Elounda itself enjoying lovely views across the bay, especially the fantastic sunsets, from the good size roof terrace (big enough for a couple of sun loungers and table/chairs) that our apartment had. You have the tranquility of being the only real building on the islet whilst still being 10-15 minutes stroll across the causeway to the restaurants and bars in Elounda. The split level, open plan accomodation is basic but very clean and tidy with enough space for 4 adults to spread out over the 2 bedroms, 2 bathrooms, living room and kitchen. If snorkeling is your thing the crystal clear waters and rocky coves are brilliant and right on the doorstep (the closest pebble beach is 5 minutes easy walk) - you can see the fish that you will probably be eating for dinner in one of the many sea side Tavernas swimming close in as well as octopus etc! Whilst talking about eating - the food and drinks in the on site cafe are some of the best you will find - all freshly home made from locally grown produce. My daughter and her friend are still missing the smoothies and milk shakes! Do try the Kanali Taverna too - just 200m away and the perfect place for an evening meal right next to the sea (they keep the lobsters in a rock pool next to the place). We did have a heatwave for part of the holiday but the breezes (and wind!) helped to keep things cool enough at night - the lack of aircon was actually quite nice. The Alexopolous family have really created something quite special here that blends into the natural habitat and takes advantage in a sympathetic way of all that is good about Crete. Ask them almost anything and they will be happy to help with reccomendatons, directions etc. They really couldn't have been more hopsitable and friendly. So - if you want to try a bit of real Crete/Greece in a laid back and tranquil spot with great hosts - this is the place for you!
