the air conditioning was set to function at average temperature. It was hot to get suffocated inside the room.
they prohibit the shorts for the dinner, because they think it is inappropriate suit for the place....
they never prevent you in advance, only in front of the dinning room door , they prohibit you to entry. And what happens if your mainly clothes are shorts, as it is summer and very hot ???
the hotel is not near the sea, and above all the island have a lot better beaches to show to the tourists than to stay there
the rooms are ok, clean, but not for luxury hotel...!
and the staff, some of them [in the reception mainly] could be more polite, especially with old people

We stayed at the Aqua Sol Resort for one week half board in July/August 2013, We had a great time the hotel staff are very friendly and helpful the rooms are very clean and comfortable. We had great seaviews which we requested, the food in the hotel was plentiful and very tasty. Elounda itself is lovley with a nice beach, there is a place to swim in the sea just a short walk from the hotel it says in the brouchre it is a beach it is not just like a brick jetty with sunbeds on but it was still nice there also if you have small children the jetty is circular and makes a sea pool so the children can play in the sea safley. The only downside to the hotel is the evening entertainment as the hotel is at least a 30 min walk from the nearest town or a taxi ride away ( 6 euros), the hotel would do better if they intoduced better entertainment we had bingo ( not all brits luv bingo ), film night (olympus has fallen ) kareoke and a kiddie disco these where night our idea of enjoyment however one night we had a greek night this night was fantastic and very enjoyable. on the hole i give this hotel a big thumbs up and if they improved the entertainment i would visit again.

Everything is as is supposed to be: Clean rooms, great swimming pools (one with a great view of the bay), fantastic food (very Greek, not the avarage tourist food), beautiful location (the bay and Elounda town). Even though it was full booked, it was not crowded. Enough chairs at the pools, rtelaxed atmosphere. What really made the difference were the people who worked there: Always friendly, polite and hardworking. Especially Polikarpos (our favorite waiter), Soula (bartender) and Andreea (entertainment), but everyone was superfriendly! This was our first time all-inclusive. I was afraid that it would turn out to be a disaster, but Aqua Sol Resort is definately a place that I would love to come back to!

The word we as a family used for this resort was fine. We arrived late and were put into a suite for one night, this comprised of a double bed, put you up bed and a sofa. We had booked two rooms. We were moved to our two rooms the next day, this was inconvenient but in the end it was ok.
Rooms were very clean and although basic they were fine. The one problem was the mattress and pillows, not sure if they are old but the hotel needs to upgrade at least the pillows, lumpy and cheap. Shower was very good.
We used the top pool all week and were pleasantly surprised to see the towels on sunbed problem did not exist, sunbeds were available any time.
Walked for 5 mins down to the sea, no beach but good enough for swimming in the sea.
The food was good for two of us but unfortunately the two teenagers did not really find anything they liked for dinner, bread, pasta and sauce at the best. We ate out for 3 evenings out of 6,plus once for lunch even though we were all inclusive. Breakfast was good.
The staff in the hotel are lovely, efficient and very helpful. We didn't see the animation team at any time and apart from one night there was no evening entertainment. As most people were all inclusive they tended to stay in the lobby/bar. We walked down to Elounda every evening, only about 20 mins walk with a lovely shortcut along the waterside.
We visited Spinalonga which was a lovely day out, went to Agios Nicholas a nice place to spend time, but we loved Elounda, the restaurants were great, the people very friendly and no hassle.

The only real negative was nothing to do with the hotel but the time it took to get back to the airport, we got on the coach at 5.30pm and got off just before 8pm. Far too many stops, it is only 90 euros by cab and if we had been given correct information from the rep rather than being told we will be picked up by minibus and will get back quicker than the expected 1.5 hours it took on the way there by coach we would definitely have got a cab.

Without doubt will go back to Elounda but not this hotel.

Room Tip: Higher floors have a wonderful sea view.

We have stayed at the Elounda Aqua Sol on three occasions (soon to be four) in the last 18 months. On all occasions our rooms have been comfortable, clean with excellent housekeeping staff , the rooms being cleaned daily.
A special thanks to Anna, Andrea and Alex, in fact all the hotel staff who are always friendly and helpful.
I do agree that there are a lot of steps but this is likely to be the only exercise you get, so walking up and down to the bar or restaurant isn't such a hardship.
Sharing our holiday with non Brits , eg Russian, French and Dutch was fabulous. We have enjoyed many evenings full of laughter and fun. We also enjoyed the company of our fellow Brits.
Our regular visits outside the hotel to Plaka, the Allyggos and the Mellisos are recommended.
Elounda is a beautiful village and has been our family holiday destination for over 25 years.

Where do I start?? just returned from 2 weeks all-inclusive at the Elounda Aquasol, first time we have gone all-inclusive and it certainly won't be the last! Well worth it. A longish transfer from the airport, but having been to Crete previously we expected this. On arrival at the hotel (11.30pm) we were quickly and efficiently checked in and given a snack, which was much appreciated. Our room was basic (as has been said by previous reviewers) however it was spotlessly clean with fresh towels and bedding almost daily (at your own request, the cleaning lady was lovely). Also having booked this holiday only 2 weeks before I asked for a room with a sea-view (didn't expect to get it!!) and we had brilliant views of the sea, mountains, and Spinalonga Island in the distance, possibly some of the best views in the hotel.

The staff were lovely, nothing was ever too much trouble. Special thanks to Ana and Andrea at the pool bar who were always friendly and ready for a chat (Andrea, I ordered my Garou CD!!) and also Nicoletta in the restaurant who always welcomed you with a big smile and enquiring how we were. The food was lovely, buffet-style and plenty of choice.

I have to add that on our last night we ate out at a wonderful restaurant called Ergospasio's and it was a great night, we only ordered a main meal (+ drinks) however received a lovely starter and lots of other extras, service was second to none, if you are staying in or around Elounda I would definitely recommend this restaurant!!

Regarding previous comments, yes there are lots of steps, (inside hotel most areas can be accessed by lifts) but I honestly can't say this spoiled our holiday in any way? We'd read these reviews before we booked so knew this, the same as the walk down to Elounda, yes it's about a 30-minute slow walk down, we did this most days and used the taxis only twice (all taxis are Mercedes!!) Also we visited Aghios Nikolaos twice on public bus service, which was very comfortable (air-conditioned coaches) and less than 2 euros for a 15 minute bus ride!

All in all we had a brilliant holiday and can honestly say we would recommend this hotel, it was everything we expected and probably a little bit more! Thanks for a great holiday.

Room Tip: If you want a sea-view, the views don't come much better than room 116 in the main building!!

It might have been a nice hotel 20 or 30 years ago but the room I stayed in was terrible.... I don't even know where to start from! The only thing that was nice was the beds. I only stayed for one night and the price was quite cheap for what I got and that's why I didn't complain... The first thing I realized when I got in and after I had gone to the toilet, was that the flash was broken!!!!!! The whole decoration of the room was outdated, the balcony had some terrible plastic chairs, the aluminium shutters had some holes as if they had been shot by a gun... There was noise from the pool and the kids playing even though my room was in the bungalow which was far in the back of the complex... The most difficult part was finding the hotel.... I drove back and forth over 3 times, it took me almost an hour to realize I couldn't find it and then I called and they gave me directions.... You actually have to turn when you see the sign of another hotel! As if they couldn't add a sign of their own! And the beach is quite far, you can't even remotely see it from the hotel.... I would definitely not stay there again....
