Elounda Breeze Resort
Ranked #25 of 35 Hotels in Elounda
Reviewed August 7, 2012

The hotel is in a good location, on the outskirts of Elounda. A group of us went to Crete for a family wedding and many of us stayed at the Aqua Sol. The rooms were clean and well kept but tired and in need of decoration, there are two lovely pools both a decent size for the size of the hotel. The upper pool was a great area for peaceful bathing but the pool bar had not been open for 4 years which was not as advertised and there were quite alot of steps down to the lower pool bar. The food was ok, breakfast was better than dinner which had very little variety but you could always find something to eat, It was disappointing to find that the a la carte was also closed, this would have been a lovely place to sit of an evening. We booked all Inclusive but found that the drinks were watered down and diet coke & water were not part of the package so we ended up going out most evenings. The pool bar & lobby bar both shut 1 hour earlier than advertised which again was disappointing and if you came back after mid-night you could not get a drink of any kind, not even in your room. This could be a great hotel but in need of some tweeking and is more a 3* but not bad value for money. We did have a lovely holiday and crete was a beautiful place to visit, I would definately return but not to this hotel

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a normal size bath, some are the size of shower trays (not joking)

We returned on tuesday 31st July from a memorable time at this hotel. Not the last word in luxury, but most adequate - comfortable, reasonably spacious room, small en suite but always plenty of hot water. Attentive room service and very pleasant staff. We were half board, and the buffet breakfasts and dinner were most satisfactory. Wide choice to suit all tastes with plenty of fresh fruit and veg! Drink prices were good value, and some good wines. We enjoyed the substantial number of french holidaymakers in the hotel.
Our message is that from our experience of Crete, Greece remaims peaceful and friendly towards its visitors, regardless of what we read and hear in the media. If you are looking for sun, sea and an attractive tourist destination do visit Crete, and Elounda in particular.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view.

We arrived at the Aqua Sol on the 5th July after experiencing awful problems at another hotel in Elounda ( Elounda Residence), from the minute we stepped into the hotel we knew we were going to have a lovely time. The staff are absolutely wonderful & went out of their way to make our holiday enjoyable after what we had experienced the last two days. The food was lovely with plenty of variety in lovely surroundings and happy. polite smiling staff. The Sailors bar by the pool had food hot & cold throughout the day if you didn't want to go for lunch in the restaurant. Anna behind the bar was so helpful and looked after us very well. Sev, Andrea & the rest of the animation team whose names I didn't get worked so hard to entertain the guests, rehearsing twice a day to produce some great shows. Although the hotel has mainly french guests, once the team knew we were english they translated for us. It,s about a 25min walk into the centre, & Agois Nickolias is about 7km away but you can get a cab to both places which are quite cheap.

Good points first: nice location (if you want it quieter and outside town), a couple of great pools, rooms clean, nice hot showers, the breakfast choice was ok. Downside: we booked the all inclusive package and hoped that we would spend most evenings at the hotel. Although a wide range of drinks and cocktails were available I have to state that the drinks were really watered down. Restaurant choices for dinner were not very varied or particularly adventurous. The hotel is really in need of refurbishing (it was graded as 4 star on the web site we booked via but I would classify it as a very low 3 star). Understaffed in some areas (e.g. pool bar) and, although their literature stated that the bar was open until 1:00am, the bar staff were very rigorous in letting you know it was last orders at 11:45pm as they wanted to get home. I feel that they are cutting back due to the recession but cutting back in all the wrong places.

Just spent a lovely week here. Hotel very clean.pools lovely especially quiet pool.most guests french as are the entertainment group. Elounda is 20 min walk away and a taxi back at night is a must as no street lighting or pavements. The happy train is worth a trip and also the sail to spinalonga.a jet2 rep might have been useful at hotel even for some general information and ortintation. Overall holiday enjoyable.

Room Tip: Seaview room nice although overlooking other hotel then the sea. Still beautiful though

Me and my husband has just returned from a wonderful week's stay in Eastern Crete. Elounda Aqua Sol is a nice quiet hotel, in a very picturesque area of Eastern Crete. Elounda is twenty minute walk's away and worth a long walk after you arrive, but for the rest of the time rent a car and travel around not to suffer from heat and often rocky paths, as well as to experience the dazzling heights, blue sea and breath-taking scenery. During for days we rented car for we have travelled 700 kms and it was worth every EUR spent. The hotel itself mainly caters to French tourists (the animation is all for them, but we never cared for it), there is also quite a number of Germans and Russians. Barely any children (exactly what we were looking for), those were in a small pool next to the main bar. We mostly used a second pool with lounge chair, very relaxing in the morning or after a day-long drive, with barely five-eight persons around it.
We stayed half board, the breakfast is all the same, but I am not a breakfast person; the dinner was never the same during a week's stay. You can always find smthg to taste and if not extremely finicky, you will never leave hungry. You could see the cooks and staff tried to please all visitors, but were not obtrusive or annoying, we appreciated them.
I did took down one star for absence of beach (if you can't swim, like myself, there is no use to visit the rocky patch), but drive for five ten minutes and there are public beaches in Elounda, Agios NIkolaous and eastwards from it. It was not my primary purpose to burn myself black rolling on a beach. Also, I did find the bed a bit uncomfy, but I am not an easy sleeper.
All in all I would recommend it as a starting point to explore Eastern Crete, for the visitors tired of plain, crowded, noisy villages of Hersonissos, Malia etc.

Room Tip: Rooms in the main building are cheaper, and we stayed there, almost all have a view to the pool and...
