Excellent classic hotel. Worth staying and spending time / relaxing. We stayed in a Deluxe room but the yaught villas must be amazing! Food in the hotel is really not worth it - there are many excellent and better restaurants outside

The service at elounda beach is the best we've experienced across the world. We have stayed here 5 times because there are so few places were you will get a beautiful private sandy beach, brilliant water sports, good choice of restaurants and salt water swimming pool. There is a faded grandeur to this hotel and we find this endearing.

This hotel is one of a few of the Elounda Group who hug this area on the beach in Crete. The location is great, the staff WONDERFUL and kudos to them for really going the extra mile. The disappointment came in the actual property itself. It is so expensive (8,000 euro for four nights in a small old suite with room attached for tiny people). It was obviously built in the eighties and hasn't been renovated since. The air conditioner cannot be adjusted as far as degrees go, just on off or low or high. The jacuzzi in the parents room makes so much noise you can't use it. The 'third' room which makes up this 'three room family suite' was so small you could not even lie down on the couch. I mean really either charge accordingly or get with the times.
Beach is small, mattresses old, towels old, pool ok. Totally falls short.

Room tip: Pay as much as you can afford, main building small rooms, make sure to have sea view

Returned from a lovely 10 nights at this resort. Beautifully kept and spotlessly clean with very genuine staff. Great facilities - 2 private beaches and a lovely large swimming pool. Lots of sun loungers so no needless reserving going on. Good location - walkable in 15 mins to Elounda where there are lots of restaurants. Taxis plentiful - we took one most nights to neighbouring towns and villages. With a fixed fare and plentiful taxi ranks travelling off the resort and around the locality was easy. Breakfast was super - prompt coffee and something to suit every palate including a fantastic array of juices. We were greeted every morning by Dimitri who made us feel welcome. On our first evening we arrived post dinner and an array of salmon and antipasti had been left for us with a nice bottle of wine - a lovely touch. We were welcomed by Voula who looked after anything we needed throughout the holiday. We were booked into a bungalow in Cretan style which with a stone bed next to a wall which was frankly unacceptable. Apparently this is traditional "Cretan style", regardless - having to climb over my husband to get out of bed isn't acceptable. Due to our late arrival (and sleepless night!) we raised this with Voula the next day and we were moved to a better appointed bungalow promptly that day. This was dealt with very well by Voula and the hotel in general presenting no problem whatsoever. Only improvements for this hotel - rooms were small for the price and fruit could have been replenished daily. We were confronted by the same 2 bananas for 10 nights! Biggest issue - value in the restaurants. There is a €50 euro allowance should you choose not to eat in the buffet. This goes nowhere near making the cost of a meal in one of the restaurants palatable. If it's value for money, we're happy to pay for it, but the prices are frankly outrageous and make Dubai (where we go twice a year) look cheap!! Ok the pound is weak but even so - a starter of 4 prawns in Argonaut - €34. Rip off. No doubt the hotel response will be "we've benchmarked similar restaurants and we are on par" but I'm not sure where they would use for a comparison. I'm not keen on buffets generally and this one was relatively weak in terms of standard so we abandoned the hotel most nights to try local tavernas where you could get a fabulous meal with sea views for more rational prices. Tea and coffee in the rooms is also chargeable at €2 which considering this is a 5 star hotel isn't acceptable. Wifi is great and available everywhere. English newspapers available from the kiosk which was great for the husband. A local supermarket is also just outside the hotel grounds if you need anything. A really enjoyable holiday. Superb facilities and staff - just sort the on site restaurants.
