“friendly, laid back restaurant with great food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 12, 2012

We ended up eating here most lunchtimes during our holiday in Elounda. The food was very good, particularly the stuffed peppers and tomatoes and the courgette fritters are just divine. The owners are very friendly and its a great location, just opposite the town beach.

“Anemomylos (or as we call it 'The Windmill'”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 30, 2012

We have been visiting Elounda for the past 7 years and have eaten in the Anemomylos regularly on each of our holidays. Yes there are numerous good restaurants in Elounda and perhaps a few just a bit more 'up market', but you will have to go a long way to beat this restaurant for a varied menu, excellent food and superb value for money. The position is brilliant for both day and evening dining, as it is just across the road from the beach looking across the bay. Spiros and Maria run a very relaxed and friendly restaurant without being at all 'pushy'. No-one to hawk you in or hassle you to have more than you want. Try it - you won't be disappointed!

“fantastic food rubbish service”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 28, 2012

decided to give this a go, as all the years we have been coming to elounda no matter what time of day or night we passed it always has seemed near empty. this year tho seemed completely different, and was mostly full.
we went in for a drink one afternoon and looked at the menu and decided that we would book a table and have our special meal here.
we both had soup to start, 1 mushroom and 1 fish, which were both faultless, and for main we ordered our favorite chateaubriand, now this is where they let them selves down for me. the tail end of fillet was cooked perfectly to our request. it had been slightly cut into at the top, but the platter was placed on the table and left. everywhere else in the world we have been the waiter slices the meat at the table and leaves you to help yourself, so i tried to slice through the meat with my knife, but it wouldnt cut through and salad was going all over the place. all this time the woman sat on her computer and completely ignored us. it may not sound a problem for some people, but at 40 euro for this meal you would of thought that they had paid a bit more attention to detal. i felt rather stupid when i eventuall had to stand up to hack at the meat to seperate it very surprised the knife didnt break. when we eventuall ate it, we both said it was the best chateaubriand we have ever ever had, and the sauces complimented the meat wonderfully. the meat was not tough, it was just that the underside of the fillet had the connective tissue on it which made it difficult to cut using a normal steak knife.
after our plates had been removed, we tried to catch the attention of the staff to order coffee's, by this time there was only around 6 tables occupied (around 10pm) nobody came, the woman was still on her computer with not a care in the world, and the bloke was pottering around in the back. i had to go up and ask for 2 irish coffee's which i wish i hadnt bothered. 1st time ever i have had squirty cream on an irish coffe. was the worst one of my life, and again back to the computer she went. we did want to finish off our meal with a metaxa as we only can afford one special meal per hol, so we didnt want the service to bother us, as the food had been great. again tho had to go and ask the woman on the computer for 2 metaxa 7* and she seemed quite put out that i was bothering her again. so much for paying customers.
they were very speedy with the bill, just over 90 euros. no complimentry drink or fruit, (which we are not botherd about) everybody in the place had it tho. did we leave a tip? did we heck. to me you tip for great food and service, and this place didnt warrant it.
fantastic food rubbish service, and for the service alone i would never use this place again. which is a crying shame really. a real shame

“Lovely beach front restaurant, amazing food and warm welcome”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 27, 2012

This our seventh visit to lovely Elounda and once again Anemomylos served up their excellent food, beautifully presented with generous portions and reasonably priced. The familiar diners that can been seen here night after night is a credit to the hard work of the weloming Spiros and Maria.
