Rooms/Bungalows clean and comfortable. Tastefully spread out in acres of gardens on a variety of levels connected by paths and steps. Food good and varied (Greek and British) . Wide variety of snacks and drinks within the all inclusive price

We stayed at the Aquila Elounda Village for a week during April and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

This is a beautiful resort (and there are many of them in this area!) however, what stood out for us, was the very genuine hospitality of the staff. Each and every-one of them did their utmost to ensure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable.

I will try and summarise the main areas as follows:

Accommodation – we had a SV bungalow and it was a good size with a very comfortable king bed, good quality bedding, fridge and tea and coffee making facilities. The bathroom included a bath and shower cubicle, bath robes and amenities, the amenities were replaced daily.

Food – we were HB and the restaurants were all of a high standard. As previously mentioned, HB guests can trade dinner for lunch at the Mirabello, which serves excellent food and has perfect views of the bay. HB guests also receive one dinner in the Greek A La Carte restaurant during their stay. I am not keen on buffet food however, the food at the buffet in the main restaurant was superb both at breakfast and dinner and expertly supervised by the Maître d'. The beach bar is also great for a quick snack and a cold beer. We ate very well!

Bar – the hotel has a stunning bar, with a lovely outside seating area, and Vangelis and his team will ensure all your alcoholic and non-alcoholic needs are taken care of.

Staff – all superb!

Spa – we did not sample any treatments however, the gorgeous indoor pool and sauna is available all day, free of charge to hotel guests.

Outside areas – the gardens are beautiful and very well cared for. There are three pools and an lovely beach area. There are also lots of little corners for you to escape to if you want to avoid the masses, we loved this!

Location – as previous reviewers have commented, approximately 45 mins – 1 hour walk into Elounda or 7 Euros in a cab.

All Inclusive – the hotel’s AI offering is excellent for the price and if we return in the future, which we hope to, we would most likely choose this option.

Crete is one of our favourite spots in Greece the Aquila Elounda Village provided us with a very good, relaxing holiday.

We stayed at the Aquila Elounda Village last week for a few days as our original hotel delayed it's opening for the season by a few days. The Elounda Village was offered to us as an alternative, and given that we could not change our holiday date we elected to accept the offer of the new hotel.

We were offered an upgrade to a Junior Suite Bungalow, and to be honest I am not sure this is what we received. Our room, whilst large and with a large balcony was on the top floor of the older building and not a bungalow at all. Having said that the room was fine.

The Beach is on the small size, but there are plenty of loungers located around the other pools so you don't feel crowded. The beach bar is nice with great views over the water, and the Mirabella restaurant for lunch also has great views.

We had half board (which included Dinners) and unfortunately this is where this hotel falls down. We only ate in the main restaurant, a buffet type affair, on the second day and I have to say the food was terrible. It was so bad in fact that we chose to eat at the Symposium a la carte restaurant every night following despite the limited menu. This added quite an expense to our holiday.

Another thing to watch out for at this hotel is that the prices quoted for food/drinks and spa do not include tax. We were a little shocked to find out that they added 23% to our bill upon check out. This put a real dampner on our feelings for this hotel. If this happens to you and the hotel claims that it is standard practice I can tell you that is not the case as the second hotel we moved to (which I will review separately - The Grecotel Amirandes) did not do this.

All in all I felt that this hotel offered an average standard of accomodation and facilities but I would not classify this as 5 star at all.

Rather than leave this review on a sour note, I will say however that the Staff were very friendly and accomodating, and I would especially like to single out the wait staff at the Symposium who went out of their way to make us feel welcome.

First thing I'll say is get an ocean view room - otherwise you'll regret trying to save a few dollars. Really.

I hadn't told my wife much about where we would be staying. It was worth the price just to see her jumping up and down and squealing like a little girl when she saw the room and the view.

And a king sized bed at last - I was beginning to think there was no such thing in Crete.

The balcony was as large as some hotel rooms. Very private.

About as perfect as a hotel could be. I rarely give 5 stars, but 100% thumbs up this time.

Just back from this wonderfull hotel. Money well invested. The food, the rooms, the garden, the views, ...everything was just perfect. Just the all-in SPA was poor (the sauna cabin did not work). Very friendly people, always laughing and never 'pushy'. We will return !

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon and we cannot fault this hotel! The service was fantastic, the food in all restaurants was outstanding, the overall decor and ambience was lovely, we had the premium all inclusive package we were greeted with champagne on arrival had a newspaper of choice delivered everyday, unlimited icecream at the beach bar and extra choice in the ala carte restaurants, all the local drinks were nice and lots of choice, we attended the Greek themed night which started with a wine tasting sessions sampling lots of Greek wine followed by traditional Greek menu and dance show which was great, the beach and pool always had plenty of sun loungers and great views, booking trips was easy and would recommend the trip to spinalonga however if we went again we'd go without tour guide as we didn't get enough time to explore the island and it was cheaper going by yourself. overall we would highly recommend this hotel! A must is the spa in the hotel we visited twice for masssges and they were superb!

Last week we returned from a super holiday at the Aquila Elounda Village Hotel. The room was probably the best we have ever stayed in , the views stunning and the food first rate, with great variety. Moreover, the service from everyone was excellent , especially from the Reception team and from Maria who all helped us greatly when we experienced an issue with our hire car. I can't thank them enough for their help. The location is fantastic but I'd advise having a car to get around.

Room Tip: Go for a room with a sea view - worth the extra!
