Description: Beautiful, stylish restaurant built on the old Kastelli wall in the wonderful, picturesque Venetian harbour of Chania. Established in 1993, Kariatis enjoys an excellent reputation for top quality food and service with an impressive menu created and served with proficiency and flair. Imaginative and refreshingly different dishes inspired by flavoursome, colourful, aromatic ingredients from both Crete and Italy offering an appetizing assortment of Italian and Mediterranean dishes and delicious gourmet desserts. Also serves fresh filleted fish dishes including sea bass, salmon and tuna and lots of luscious seafood pasta and risotto dishes. During the winter months we will be seducing sushi lovers with our sensational sushi. Kariatis also offers an extensive selection of award-winning Greek and International wines from around the world.

“Best italian in town!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 24, 2012

Top quality restaurant with reasonable prices! Pastas are fresh, pizzas tasty and the passion fruit creme brulée is to die for!!!
We went there twice over 2 weeks and the waiters remembered us... It's a great place for both romantic dinner or friends gathering!

“Highly recommended”

The Tibetan black rice topped with lobster pieces and almanac sauce is not to be missed. This is probably the most classy restaurant in the Chania harbor area.

“Top”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 16, 2012

This is a top restaurant for affordable prices. For starters I had gnocchi gorgonzola, for main dish fillet with porcini and as a dessert pannacotta. Tree times heaven! The best restaurant during my stay on Crete, by a long, long shot. Service is kind and professional. They had a really beautiful girl, surely meant to attract people, and that doesn't harm neither.

“So why eat Italian in Greece?”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 5, 2012

Seems strange for sure, but if you want a little quality, service and location out of the Chania harbor mainstream and you've eaten enough ordinary Greek tourist fare in the mass-eateries around the harbor (avoid all of them), you'll enjoy Kariatis. Capable service and surprisingly good food from a well-constructed menu and wine list. You may want to reserve a table (elevated area). Don't choose the ground, front tables because of passing traffic.
