“Great location and wonderful view”
Reviewed June 14, 2014

This was my first time in Crete and if I ever go back, I'd definitely stay at the Amphora again. The staff was incredibly helpful, including Anita who gave wonderful, detailed recommendations on activities and places to visit. Our ferry arrived early in the morning and the hotel minimized our wait time by letting us check in a little earlier than the official check-in time. The views from the sea-view rooms were top notch -- definitely worth the extra fee. Location was also great - in the heart of Chania and also close to a parking lot (we rented a car for one day). We didn't get the breakfast so can't speak to that but had dinner at the restaurant downstairs and the food was GREAT. Would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Crete!!

My first time in Crete, and we only had 5 days! The Amphora was a great choice. Our room was on the top floor with a romantic little balcony overlooking the port and the ancient Venitial port.
The charming lanes still have the old world charm are full of great stores for local jewelry, potery and food.

This hotel was in the perfect spot for us to get out for walks in Chania, and to relax and watch the harbour action from the comfort of our balcony, or one of the terraces. The hotel was lovely, and a bit of a maze! Our room was fantastic, with a great view of the harbour. We were there on a weekend, so it was quite noisy at night, but we closed the windows to sleep.

Amazing service from all of the staff, especially Augustin who carried our luggage up and down the stairs, the woman running the morning breakfasts, and the lady at reception who recommended a nearby place to get our tire fixed. (Sorry, I didn't catch everyone's names!)

Morning breakfast was fantastic, offering a great selection of breakfast foods and freshly squeezed orange juice. You can choose to eat in the breakfast room downstairs, or have it taken up to the terrace facing the harbour! What a lovely way to start the morning.

We also loved the Amphrora restaurant for dinner, but that will be a separate review :)

Room Tip: Room 20 is on an upper floor, with possibly the best view of any room! There is no elevator, so it w...

I booked the wrong day so turned up with no reservation. The hotel staff could not be nicer - sorted everything out with a minimum of fuss.
Great breakfast the next morning. A really great hotel experience.

Excellent hotel in the most beautiful of places. Our room was on the top floor, with a small balcony overlooking Chania - sheer bliss - it was worth the climb up 3 flights of stairs.
The hotel has loads of charm and has all you need.
The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly.
We were travelling in Europe for 5 weeks and it was the only place where we actually had freshly squeezed orange juice for breakfast! What a joy! We were given the option of having breakfast on the terrace overlooking the view - a most pleasurable way to start the day.
Would recommend.

Room Tip: Definitely go for a room with balcony on top floor - magnificent view - worth the climb!

We really enjoyed our stay here when we visited crete. We had been to a few places but none were as comfortable and relaxing in the midday heat as room 20 at The Amphora. Situated on the harbour front, I was worried that it would be noisy but the bustle was comfortable and calming. The hotel is stunning and just a lovely place to hide away from the heat. Room 20 had a beautiful balcony. The staff were wonderful!

We knew this hotel was going to be a special place to spend Christmas 2013 and so booked 3 days to celebrate. We didn't plan for it to be so good that we would spend all 9 days of our holiday here! Leaving the rain-blasted shores of the UK, we arrived in bright sunshine and were welcomed by the outstanding team of Augustin and Anita. Every morning we would wake up to sunshine after weeks of waking up in the dark at home and would chat with Anita to plan our day's activities: would it be a mountain drive to an eco-restaurant, a walk through the wonderful-smelling botanical gardens or a hair-raising drive to a remote turquoise beach? We were introduced to places through the people that run them and Anita's hospitality reached to all the places we visited. It was a truly amazing holiday, made special by the Amphora hotel and we will definitely be coming back.
