This is a fabulous hotel with a lot of charm that goes with the area of its location in Chania. The view was to die for. The staff were exceptional - friendly & helpful. We loved staying here. The room was very spacious with a lovely balcony overlooking the harbour. However, a few pieces of advice. There are MANY stairs & no lift (our room was at the top!). The bathroom was a bit challenging witht the positioning of the shower over a very narrow bath & the mixer placement meant you were always knocking it causing sudden changes in water temperature. Despite these minor detils we would not have stayed anywhere else.

The hotel is beautifully situated in the old venetian harbour close to restaurants and shopping and only a short walk from the beach. The room was clean, very tastefully decorated and had a lovely balcony facing the harbour. Breakfast was also very nice and I can recommend the hotel restaurant.
Location and building were nice, but what made the hotel exceptional was the excellent service. Every employee was friendly and helpful, with special thanks to the lovely lady preparing breakfast and most of all Augustin who really invested time and effort to make our stay in Chania perfect.
We recommend this hotel to everyone who wants to stay in the beautiful old town in Chania.

We stayed here for a week and absolutely loved the hotel. The service was excellent; above any expectations. The location was perfect and offered beautiful views of the harbour during breakfast and comfortable respite after walking through the town. Very well kept and authentic feel of the history of the place. Loved the old maps on the walls; great touch. Stay here if you are traveling to Chania.

The rooms and location are fantastic. But what makes this place "perfect" is the service. Every single employee went above and beyond and truly became our friends by the end of the trip. A huge thank you (especially Agustin and all of the George's for making our trip incredible). We will remember this amazing place always. It would be a mistake to stay anywhere else. Efcharisto.

We stayed at Amphora the last leg of our trip in Crete after returning from the east coast. The hotel overlooks the harbor and is very charming. The rooms are modernized and very clean. We also were able to get a room that had a balcony.

Things to note:

1. Location/Ambiance: The location is fantastic for visiting the harbor and Old Town Chania. The view from our balcony was really wonderful and the feel of the room was charming, yet modern.

2. Room: We liked the room layout in Amphora. It was spread out and open and the bathroom had a tub (not something you always get in Europe).

3. Staff: The staff were friendly and let us check out early the day before (we had an incredibly early flight the next morning) without any problems. They also carried our luggage all the way upstairs to our room.

4. Access: There are no elevators in the hotel as far as I could tell so this is something to consider if you or a person you're traveling with has trouble with climbing stairs.

5. Noise/Parking: I combined these two factors because these aren't specific to Amphora, but rather it applies to all of the hotels on the harbor. There are clubs on the harbor that play music late into the night and there is no car parking in the harbor or its alleyways. This is just something you have to consider when booking any hotel near the harbor. We asked for a room on the top floor and further back in the hotel to avoid the noise, but we were still able to get a balcony with a view!

I've been travelling in Greece for a month and this by far the best hotel experience I've had. It is a beautifully restored 600 year old building with spectacular views in the best location in Chania. The combination of white stone and dark hardwood floors and wood beams is quite stunning. You feel as if you're being transported back in time while still having all of the modern amenities. The breakfast is excellent with an eclectic mix of Greek and North American cuisine and you get to enjoy it on a roof-top garden terrace. Also, the internet connection is lightening fast, which has been an issue for me in other hotels. All of these features aside, I would gladly return to this hotel just for the intangibles that are so important to me - warm, friendly, attentive staff (Agustin, Anita, and Evie) who go out of their way to make you feel at home and ensure you experience the best that Greece has to offer. Do yourself a favour and book a room at Amphora!

My wife and I just returned from Greece and had the pleasure of staying at the Hotel Amphora in Chania for three days. It's a wonderful place. The location can't be beat. The service is friendly and attentive. We stayed in two different rooms while we were there and both of them were unique, clean and comfortable. The roof terrace offers a great view of the harbor and is an ideal place for a drink to cap off the day.

Also, the restaurant downstairs is one of the best in the harbor and you get a 10% discount as a hotel guest. There are a lot of hotel choices in Chania, but my guess is that when we go back, we'll definitely come back to the Amphora.

Room Tip: The rooms facing the harbor offer a great view but they can be loud given the proximity to the clubs...
