We have been visiting Crete for many years but the service we recieve at the lefka apartments is second to none, the owners Andreas and Evita are the best possible hosts anyone could wish for.
The apartments and gardens are immaculate they are situated on a main road but what noise you can hear just drifts into the background so this was not a problem for us. there is a bus stop a short walk from the apartments so it is very easy to get into Chania (tickets sold at the pool bar). If you would rather eat at the poolside bar in the evenings the food they cook is superb, we never had a better meal anywhere on the island.
So if you want to visit Chania and would like a pool look no further than the Lefka

Home away from home, that is Lefka. We came to Lefka for the first time in 2006 and have been there every year since, either in June or September. This year we only stayed one week in the beginning of September. When we arrived and the taxi stopped outside we got the feeling that we just had been there, we had come home, although we had not been there since June 2011. Everything was the same, Annas heartly welcome, the nice garden and pool, the bar, the blue sky, the nice heat and everything!!!! ... After a quick change to more suitable attire for the climate it was time for lunch and a frosty greek beer. Anna's special ommelete and greek salad must be the world's best and that is true, nobody beats it. We have been travelling all over Crete from west to east, along the entire south coast and north coast and have visited many great places, small villages, nice tavernas and beaches but lefka has something special which we do not find elsewhere, Evita, Andreas, Anna and the rest of the staff.
Yes, the apartments are located close to the busy main road, but Lefka is an oasis with nice garden, pool and trees as shelters to the road and the road is forgotten as soon as you are inside. Just across the road a large real good supermarked is conveniantly located for your shopping. Here you find everything you need for the stay in the selfcontained apartments, fresh fruit, vegatables, meat, cheesewhatever you need. Dinner you either eat in a taverne in Chania or surroundings recommende by Andreas, but often in Lefka. The food they cook is really very good, and specially the herbs makes it so tasty!!! Wine is Andreas's speciality and you wonder why they don not sell Greek wine at home. The friendliness and the hospitaily is great and it is difficult to leave when the week is over. But next year will soon be here and hopefully here we come again.
Close to the main road makes it easy to come to Chania, either by bus or half an hour stroll along the seaside where we discover something new every year.
5 minutes walk to the closest beach, but 10 minutes to Krissi Akti (Golden Beach) which is a nice beach and good space with sun beds, beach guard and three small beach tavernas. Shallow water, soft sand which are nice for children (and adults). Compared to the beaches in the Resort areas of Platanias and Agia Marine, Golden Beach it is more sandy, less windy on windy days, not so much waves and more space between the sunbeds.
There are other tavernas within 10 minutes walk, but I prefer Lefka or somewhere in Chania.
Platanias and Agia Marian can be easily reached by bus if you need a bit more resort atmosphere.
Stay at Lefka and you can have it all , but if you do not stay there, you will not meet Anna, Andreas, Evita ant the rest, and that is something you will regret. The apartments are nice, clean with everything you need and a nice balcony for relaxation, breakfast and evening drink. We will definely come back, and those who read this should give it a try.

Room Tip: In the middle of the hot summer months it is a little cooler on the lowest floor, but better view from the upper floor. You hear the traffic best in the upper apartments in the front. It is more quiet in the back where there also are trees that give som shade when it is hot.

We spent three nights in Lefka Apartments in Hania (or Chania). As underscored by numerous reviewers, it is close to downtown as well as various nearby clean and sandy beaches; Evita and Andreas as well as their assistant Anna, are simply marvelous hosts making you feel at home; and the cleanliness of facilities was perfect. Our studio was on the second floor facing the beautiful swimming pool but facing also the adjacent Kissamou Road. Everything should have been OK. However, as dwellers of a very quiet countryside in Switzerland, we were disturbed by the heavy traffic along the property: lorries, buses and some very noisy motorbikes were racing along even at night. To our regret, we had to move out of Lefka after three nights of limited sleep while we had booked for seven...

One should notice that the location of Lefka Apartments on Google maps appears quite inaccurate. I was misled and, knowing our need for quite nights, I would never had booked Lefka would the actual location be accurate: in fact Lefka Apartments is not located in the area Petrof/Ioannikiou Streets as indicated by Google maps, but about 1 km further away from Hania, along the large Kissamou Road, between Apterou and Omirou Streets. Entrance is on Omirou Str. in front of a dress shop named "Sprider". The address "Yermaniko Pouli Str." indicated on the website of Lefka Apts seems not to exist or has not been registered officially so far. It was also unknown to our (new) GPS.

On the opposite side of Kissamou Road, there is a large supermarket named "Βασιλοπουλος" (Basilopoulos) marked in red and a big blue AB sign: a good choice of food items is available, except fresh bread (Greek crunchy bread is sooooo good!). A Carrefour supermarket is also nearby. Numerous other shops around.

Room Tip: Try to get an apartment facing the garden, not the swimming pool, if you happen to be sensitive to traffic noise.

We stayed here in August/September 2012 and had a lovely time as a family spread across two apartments. I have never come across hosts and staff who try so hard to ensure you truly enjoy everything about their Hotel, the town, the area and the island. Everything from advice on bus times and beautiful places to visit to special help for a food allergy and obtaining some of the best honey you could ever hope to find. Nothing was too much trouble for them and it really made the difference - turning a good holiday into a great one. Yes, there is the old national road beyond the pool but it is screened by trees and really didn't bother us at all. Dining there was a highlight and meant we didn't have to plan on eating out too often.

We stayed at lefka apartments for 14 days in september, right from the outset all the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. On the second day of our holiday my husband fell and badly hurt his anckle. this was our first holiday without having a holiday rep. we needn't have worried as anna helped us organise taxi to the hospital, giving us a mobile nos. to call in case we required any further assistance. (much better than a rep any day) After a few days rest we were able to get out and about, 10 mins walk away from lovely golden beach and 10 mins bus trip to Hania which is a beautiful old town harbour with lots of little streets to explore. However after a tiring day is was always great to get back to the beautifully kept gardens/apartments/pool area of lefka ,which was never too busy. We eat alot both lunch and dinner at lefka all food was home cooked and very tasty and very reasonable. Evita and Andreas were exeptional hosts, Evita giving us extra greek appetisers to taste and Andreas giving us little shots at the end of a meal at no extra cost. Usually at the end of a fortnights holiday we are ready to come home however we would have quite happily have stayed another week,
We would recommend these apartments to anybody and would definetley return ourselves.
