For whatever reason, the Cretans keep this delightful cafe well hidden from the tourist view. We have visited Chania many times and yet stumbled on it by accident. Perhaps this is why this is the first review? Situated in the Municipal Park, just minutes walk from the market hall is this wonderful oasis of calm and a time warp to a way of life from the early 1900's. The decor could be from a film set. Old pictures and artefacts adorn every corner and every wall. It is worth a visit just to see the toilets. Decorated porcelain, brass taps, free courtesty cotton towels, shaving foam, baby changing mats etc. and spotlessly clean. The cafe offers a range of drinks and snacks brought to your table by smartly uniformed waiters. The cafe is surrounded by a park which has a collection of exotic trees and a small zoo where you can see the rare Cretan mountain goats or Kris Kris. It really is a 'must visit' if in the centre of Chania. http://www.kiposcafe.gr/history_en.html
