“Great Cretan hospitality”

We passed this little restaurant, just hoping to get a drink to cool down and to sit in their little shady side garden. They brought out a selection of small dishes with our drinks. The food was delicious and tasty so we we also had a lunch here. The owner then brought out a couple of sweets to try. The staff were friendly, gave great service but above all the food was tasty and abundant. The menu prices for their dinner menu were also good and competitive.

“What a treat !”

We've just had a gorgeous meal at Teptini restaurant in Chania. Excellent food and location for a price difficult to beat. This is really an outstanding value for money place. Good service too and the elevated, shady terrace is a little heaven against the Summer heat. Private and quiet, our group lunched and talked for hours .... Highly recommended (and really, very, very good price). Catherine and Friends

“Hospitality at its best - Service with a Smile”
Reviewed July 13, 2014

Spotted other reviews for this charming little restaurant on TripAdvisor so decided to give it a try and we were not disappointed. The staff are absolutely charming and couldn't do enough to make sure we enjoyed our meal. The complimentary Mezze and bread which arrived while we waited for our main course was tasty and yes, it was genuinely free gratis ! The main course was delicious and well presented and we couldn't believe it when we were then presented with cake for dessert, again free of charge. 60 euros for a lovely meal with a karaf and a half of wine between four !

Returned for lunch today and enjoyed the same experience with their special offer of greek salad to share + 2 main courses for 10 euros. We were amazed to receive the same complimentary bread, mezze and dessert and the final bill for 4 was only 32 euros including beers. Pity we leave tomorrow otherwise we would definitely be going back.

We only hope that this fabulous little taverna continues to thrive.

“Cretan food and hospitality at its best”
Reviewed July 7, 2014

My wife and I love finding new places to eat when we come to Chania. We have tried several restaurants over the years, and it has been difficult to find new places where food and hospitality goes hand in hand. Too many restaurants in Chania are tourist traps, and the harbor is probably the worst place. But this year we managed to find a new place for the collection of good restaurants, and it is close to the port, though somewhat hidden away in a narrow passage where the remains of the Venetian wall forms the back wall of the restaurant. The name is Terpiti, and yes - you do not choose the restaurant because of the environment, but because of the food and the hospitality, and - as it turned out - very reasonable prices. It was my wife who spotted the place and my reserved attitude to the place faded away after having greeted the nice and friendly owner.
Today's special was sold out, but she recommended instead some other good home-cooked meals. After we ordered the main course came a salat - on the house.. Then came a selection of meze, a nice hot smoked sausage in tomato sauce and a pasta salad. That we had not ordered, but was told it was a little extra for our wine!. After a lovely main course, we were well fed. Yet we could not say no to a little sweet serving- on the house...
As for the bill - another big surprise. 15 euros for 2 people including wine and water! It had to be a mistake, but no. I can not remember the last time I got that much value for the money. Add to this that the service was very friendly and polite. We went 20 euros poorer, but with a sense of having been given a gift. Thanks for dinner. We will be back ..

“Wonderful service”
Reviewed June 28, 2014 via mobile

We went here after reading tips on tripadvisor. Nice restaurant in a lovely neighbourhood of chania. The waitress explained different dishes from the menu and let us taste 3 different wines to choose from. Note that you get mezze if you order a drink (really nice pasta salade). The portions are huge, so you can consider to share (at least) the starter, especially since you also get mezze and bread.
