“Maybe the best cake shop in town...”
Reviewed December 17, 2013

I agree with previous reviewers that this is a great pastry shop, for its type it is one of the best in Chania. The cakes are a mixture of Greek and perhaps French inspired style. The quality of the cakes is above average and they have a nice selection, apple crumble tart, chocolate tart, chocolate mousse, baklava, galaktaboureko etc. They serve excellent coffee and real hot chocolate too. They usually have a savoury option such as cheese or spinach pies. Cakes cost from €2.50 to €3.50 and are well worth it. Equal to the quality of the food is the atmosphere. Inside, it is reminiscent of a French or Belgian patisserie beautifully decorated with red paint and dark wood but it does not feel unduly dark. There are only a few tables inside but I guess in summer they have pavement tables. The owners are very welcoming and even sent us on our way with a small gift. For us residents, it is useful to know they open throughout the winter as well as during the summer, every day. This is a superior place to stop for coffee and/or a sweet in the old town, you will not be disappointed. It is just 50m from the cathedral on Xalidon. We will definitely be visiting again.

“A hidden gem of a cafe”
Reviewed October 10, 2013

Having sourced this place via Trip Advisor we were not disappointed. Located down by the harbour tucked away in a little side street Constantinos greeted us with a huge smile and explained all his cakes he had to offer. My wife had a prune filled Baklava and I had a cream pie. Both were delicious. Washed down with greek coffee it was the perfect place to start our day in Chania. If you only have time for one coffee stop...choose this cafe.
