You need to visit the market while at Chania, not only to shop spices, oils, meat, cheese, bread, vegetable and souvenirs but to also admire the building!
I bought anthotiro (cretan white cheese) and it was the best white cheese I ever tasted.
There are also some tavernas in the agora and I am sorry I did not have time to eat there because the food smelled great.

Don't look in the goat head eyes but the fresh fish were unbelievable complete with the fisherman behind it. This is a must see and check out the authentic pastries.

I loved the Island of Crete!
It is quite big, with many attractions, and one of them is the Market of
Chania.
I was impressed by its cleaness, safety feelling.
I´ve felt at easy to stroll an buy goods as olive oil face creams, small souvenirs and snacks.
I strongly reccomend this tour.

This is a must see attraction. Not only a tourist attaction but this is where the real people of Crete come to eat and shop. The market was built in the 1920s in the shape of a cross. I believe modeled after one in France. A trip to Chania is not complete without a stop here. You have to stop at Manolis Traditional Cretan resturant. You will spot it by the display of freshly fried and grilled foods on display. Lots of gift shops for presents, raki, whole lambs, rabbits, you name it. Stop in at Floras small gift shop, she speaks perfect english and tell her Tony from America said to say hello. It will give her a smile. People are warm and friendly there - they are traditional Cretan folks.
