I loved it. You go for a walk there and you feel like being in another planet and time. No cars, and many people walking around.Great place for coffee.

What someone can say about the Old Harbor of Chania. Is one of the 3 Venetian harbors remaining in Europe. Having a walk at the old harbor anyseason of the year you fell like paradise.

It's a very beautiful and romantic place with several interesting buildings. A great place for a walk at night before you get your dinner. But don't eat at the harbour - no locals would do that. Too bad and too expensive - we only tried it once. There are much better places back in town.

It is a great place to wander around and enjoy the sights...most of the restaurants are touristy and are to be avoided except for the patio at the Alcanea Boutique Hotel - small meals...

A little know chapter of modern and ancient history. Until 1999 Etz Hayyim was a desecrated house of prayer that remained the sole Jewish monument on the Island of Crete after the destruction of the Jewish community in 1944. Essentially it stood as a monument to the success of the Nazis in obliterating 2300 years of Jewish life on the Island of Crete. From 1996 until the year of its re-dedication in 1999 the structure has been painstakingly restored. The philosophy that directed this work is summed up in the Hebrew – ‘Am Israel Hayy’ – ‘The people of Israel Live’. Today it stands as a vibrant statement of Jewish life, vitality and values, whereas yesterday it was still mentioned on the World Monument Fund's list of most endangered sites! There are some wonderful educators at the synagogue who will be happy to guide you through the thousands of glorious years of Jewish life on Crete until its destruction...and rebirth.
