The harbor was a bit crowded, but it had a ton of excellent restaurants and shops. It's definitely where all the action is in Chania. It was a beautiful place to see the sunset and have a meal and some drinks on the harbor.

A very beautiful area of Chania. Lots of history in the harbour. There are many restaurants along the Old Port, but I would highly advise against all of them. Whenever someone tries to pull you into a restaurant, don't go there (find a spot where the locals eat).

Also, don't be fooled by the beggars, even if they are children. Watch your belongings like you would in any tourist district.

Charming and picturesque but overrun by restaurants and annoying servers who constantly cajole you into their eateries. Despite the fact that it's a tourist trap, it's beautiful and reminiscent of Venice and other Italian harbors.

Our trip to this picturesque harbor in early june was really very enjoyable ! The people were friendly. The food was good and just about everywhere you looked there was another picture to take. Make sure that you venture past the shops into the inner streets as this is where you will meet the locals. Have a drink and watch the sunset at one of the many tavernas here. A must to see while visiting crete.

The harbour was nice to look at and explore but the constant harrasment from people trying to get you to eat at their taverna was off putting. The harbour is pretty much lined with tavernas, but predictably the better ones are away from the seafront down the sidestreets. It's worth doing some exploring as the better shops are hidden away too. I especially recommend seeing the backstreets along the south side of the harbour.

We brought a stale loaf of bread to feed the fish in the harbour which was fun :)
