“Very good food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2013

We came across mesogiako by accident but thought the menu looked nice so we gave it a try. The food was delicious! Far better than anything we found in the harbour. The view isn't as nice but the food was 10 times better. W actually went twice during our visit to Chania because the food was that good. Sam had meatballs with Gorgonzola in the middle, they were melt in the mouth good. I had chargrilled vegetables with balsamic vinegar and feta. The next evening I had chicken in yogurt and Sam had a steak. Again just amazing fresh food.

“Very special food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 26, 2013

One of the brothers at our hotel (Splanzia) recommended this as his favourite place to eat. The food is a Mediterranean fusion but not gratuitously 'gourmet', instead just good food which does not follow the standard formula but is extra delicious (you feel as if it was made to give the stomach joy rather than to impress the intellect). We ate four meze - spicy mushrooms (simple but delicious), courgette balls (OK but the least satisfying of the bunch), fried veg with cheese (a dish of the day which was excellent) and meatballs in tomato sauce (delicious). A thoroughly relaxing experience (we sat on one of the outside tables and watched the stray cats). Recommended.

“Another good find in Chania town”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 24, 2013

Having read previous reviews, thought we would like to try. The owner of our hotel in Stalos( the Renieris) also said he could recommend it as he knew we liked Local food with a difference....
For starters we had the liver, most enjoyable and beetroot(from Santorini) accompanied with a delicious salad followed by sea bass and fresh vegetables. Local white wine was also very good. Noticed that all the diners were local. Service excellent. Chef came over and gave us a complimentary carafe of wine. Will definitely go back again when next in Chania . Another thing I have not mentioned before on reviews of restaurants in area, you can drink the local tap water. 4 adults and 8 year old drank it for the 2 weeks. Tastier better than UK Water....
