The building was very nice reconstructed.
A lot of terracotta and coins, beautiful jewels.
In the center of Chania in the central street so you can visit it easily!

“A must see for history buffs”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 15, 2014

No rival for its counterpart in Heraklion, this museum still boasts a fascinating collection and some interesting facts about the items it holds. It's much larger on the inside than it looks and can take a good few hours to wonder around properly.

“Yusuf pasa cami museum”

Ottoma heritage is neglected and the old monuments are in poor condition in the garden,no one cares about them about to disappear soon. Only Byzantine heritage is dispalyed in the salons.

“Worth visiting”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 26, 2014 via mobile

This museum is something you don't want to miss, even though the museum is really easily missed. The museum has extensive collections of historical artefacts of various eras of Cretan history. Entrance fee is really reasonable. Visit the Byzantine collections before the archaeological museum and you can buy a ticket with which both museum can be visited - but it doesn't work the other way around which is rather odd. The price is lower with the combo ticket and the Byzantine collection is worth visiting as well.
Visit to the museum also gives a lovely break from the hot summer weather!

“visit the museum on the high street”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 20, 2014

This museum could easily be missed by visitors (as told to us by a couple we met); but it is in on the opposite side of the road to the large church on the street leading to the harbour.

It is closed on a Monday.

This place is a little gem entered through a wooden fronted door, see the intricate example of jewellery & plenty of other artefacts.
