This hotel is great overall. It's location can't be better. Its right on the harbor, seperated only by a cobblestone road. The staff is excellent! A special shout out to Maria (front desk) and George (Bartender). These two were so helpful and just good people. We received many great ideas for day trips and food in and around Chania/Crete. The rooms are nice nothing huge, but definately all you need. The showers are tight but have great water pressure and endless hotwater. One warning about rooms with the Garden View. I had to change rooms because it seems 4 or 5 dogs live right below and one really likes to bark. I changed rooms to the otherside, which the staff did all the moving for me. They changed my room without question and I havn't had a problem with noise since. The breakfast is nice but it never changes and kinda runs old pretty quick. I don't think you'll find a much better place to stay here in Chania. Go for it!!! Thanks to the staff for all your help!!! Lots of great restaurants in the area. I recommend the Italian place just one block away. And Turks Well. Ask and you shall find.

Aloha,

Glenn

This hotel is tucked into the end of the inner harbor and has a quieter location than the more touristy parts of the harbor. It is close to several excellent restaurants frequented by locals, and we had a fabulous dinner at Antigoni right next door. We had a twin suite with a harbor view...it was worth the additional upgrade charge. The suite had a sitting room, bedroom, large bathroom and hallway, with plenty of space to spread out and relax. The view was incredible and I spent several hours one afternoon just enjoying the sun sparkling on the water as the boats bobbed at their moorings. The location is convenient to all sites and public parking is just behind the hotel. The horse drawn carriages clip-clop along the cobblestones right in front of the hotel and are quite charming.

The staff were quite welcoming and very helpful in making suggestions about local restaurants. We especially enjoyed the complimentary desserts that seem to be the local custom. Tamam and Karnagio were also good suggestions from the hotel staff.

All in all, the best place we could have picked in Chania!

We were here for three days and two nights and wish we could have stayed longer. Staff were incredibly helpful. I really appreciated the 24 hour reception as we arrived on the overnight ferry from Pireaus at 6am and were fortunate to be able to drop off our luggage. They let us check into our room as soon as it was ready (10am) and we could have switched rooms if we needed one earlier. Room was small but comfortable with a lovely little balcony. Even after we checked out they held our luggage for the day and continued to answer questions, called us a taxi and were just incredibly friendly. Breakfast was good and the location just couldn't be beat.

We spent two wonderful nights in Porto Veneziano in Chania this month and the staff were absolutely fantastic. They even gave us live, on the phone directions to the hotel when we were lost, in the City's maze of streets. Breakfast was lovely as was the stunning views and proximity to the old Venetian Harbour. The room was just fine and with a view of the port which at sunset on the balcony was very special. The shower facility was also very good.

Rated 3 Star by someone, I have to say that this is one of the finest 3 star hotels I have ever stayed in, throughout all my global roamings and would have no hesitation in recommending this to anyone.

The hotel is idealy located in Chania old town, in front of the harbour, 4m from the sea and 2min walk from the main touristic points and close to the market.
It is very quiet as the street is pedestrian yet close to many restaurants of all sorts (from traditional to modern and lively) and trendy bars.
The hotel has a very nice terrace and garden,

My tip: go behind the ancient wall (right when coming out of the hotel) towards the cafes and bars where the locals are instead of going left towards the very touristic places.
Renting a car is highly recommended to make the most out of all the sites Crete has to offer.

The staff is incredible and always very helpful, giving great advice. Service is perfect.

The rooms are big and very clean. However some beds aren't very comfortable. Also you can sometimes hear noises from the corridor. In general the hotel is quiet.
Breakfast is included and good.

Hotel Porto Veneziano is the only hotel on the harbour-side in Chania. There are good hotels within the town but none have pleasant views. Half the hotel bedrooms look across the harbour, the others look across a street but you can still see the harbour to the right. The front -corner rooms, six in all, are magnificent suites, very spacious and well appointed.
These are expensive rooms but definitely the best. The whole hotel us set for a major refurbishment in November which may take five months. Most of the rooms, sea or street facing are modest in size as are the balconies. The rooms are modestly furnished. The hotel has a comfortable bar area off which leads a small pleasant garden at the rear of the hotel. Breakfast are the standard fare, plenty of choice but nothing is cooked. No evening meals are available as the harbour-side is packed with restaurants, all within a few steps from the hotel.
This is a fine hotel and the staff are exceptionally helpful and pleasant. We strongly recommend this, not least as the Chania harbour-side has no alternative.
