A taverna in the Old Harbor of Chania, open in all the seasons and offering excellent food with best service. Don't miss the Greek traditional food, fresh sea food etc. It's easy to access and no need for reservation. Just go there and you will have your wonderful meal, watching the harbor and its light tower. Lunch are nice but dinners are perfect, in the sun set and harbor lights. Hope you will love it.

Very friendly staff good atmosphere, nice view over the harbour, nice selection of good Greek food and wines.
The head waiter does know about Greek wine, sometimes it difficult to have a good wine.

This was my partner's and my sole random choice of meal venue based on the fact that at the time around half the diners were chatting voluably in Greek and scoffing enthusiastically, which we took to be a good sign!

We rocked-up for lunch and opted for the 16 Euro seafood platter for two. Despite the bargain basement price it came with all of the highly hospitable Cretan "extras" (water, salad, bread, desserts, Raki etc.), and the platter itself was terrific - really fresh seafood cooked spot-on, and certainly not all in the deep-fat frier! Portions were Plenty for lunch too!

Having read some disatrous reviews of some of the harbour-front places in Chania, we'd worried if there may be some sort of sting: there wasn't one - simply good service, good value, and good food.

I'd go again.

Monastiri with a perfect location in the harbor, is of course known as a tourist trap, but a good one! Every time we visit Chania is Monastiri an obvious goal, then we are overdosing our table with different kinds of Mezes! The atmosphere is authentic Greek, or as we say Cretan, the menu as well, but definitely worth a visit!
