“Excellent Hotel”
Reviewed December 16, 2012

A great hotel, especially for the price. Large rooms with a small kitchen area and stocked well with the utensils and different coffees. Large bedroom. Shower was small, but adequate. All areas (even the garage) were VERY clean and looked new. Nice staff.

My only "complaint" would be no free breakfast. I've not stayed in other Greek hotels, so I'm not sure the practice here. However, I've stayed at hundreds of hotels in Europe, and it is very unusual not to have some sort of breakfast included. Yes, they do have the kitchen (and a grocery store is VERY close by), so that may be why, but it would be nice to have the option. You could order breakfast, but it was charged.

For the price, the good location near town (and the airport and base), an excellent option for Chania! I would like to go back in warmer weather and try out the pool.

I spent 4 days here on business and could not have been happier with this hotel. I had a studio room and it was huge. The bed was comfortable, A/C worked great, nice little kitchenette with stove to make coffee in the morning, lots of space to use as a work table and nice business center with printers if you needed them. I liked the underground garage which made parking convenient, but it is difficult to drive around it and especially challenging in the morning to navigate out of the garage into traffic.

There are numerous places around the hotel to eat at. In the morning, there are a number of bakeries to go to for a coffee and pastry. You are also in walking distance to 2 grocery stores.

The aircon system worked great, although you really didn't need it at night....only in the day when the sun was up. They do have quiet hours, so the place is quiet and I had great nights of sleep for my entire stay. Nice workout room with "working" equipment (yeah!!)

I cannot say enough good things about the staff. Extremely friendly, extremely outgoing, extremely helpful. The entire staff was wonderful and accommodating for any request or need.

Although you are not right on the water or in the harbor, you are 15 minutes away from the airport and a close drive to any place you need to go. If you need a great hotel with a lot of extras, stay at the Sissy Village!!

Room Tip: I think the farther the back you are from the main road, the quieter it is if you are going to sleep...

My family and I stayed here for a couple months while looking for a house to rent and we could not have been happier. The hotel is spotless and the rooms are very spacious. The location is great, near several grocery stores and within walking distance to many tavernas and shops. The best part of this hotel though, was the friendly and helpful staff!

This is a really nice hotel and an ideal base for exploring NW Crete if you don't want to stay in the busy town of Chania. The suites are in houses built round the pool and are quite spacious with large bedroom, living areas and balconies.
The reception staff were very friendly and went out of their way to help me. The kitchen has basic cooking facilities but more than ample for cooking meals, 2 rings and a microwave and fridge. Rooms are serviced daily.
Parking in underground which kept the car cool, the business center and games room are on the carpark level but are not kept air conditioned so it takes a while for them to cool down. There is wifi through the hotel, but is best on the balconies facing the pool.
The only concern I would have is for very young children as it is very easy to fall in the pool from when moving between and room and the exit to the hotel. There is also nothing to stop young children wandering off onto the road.

My husband had a business trip so our 9 year old son and I decided to join him. We stayed for 4 nights. The property only has 32 suites, but many have a separate bedroom from the living room, dining room and full kitchen. The rooms were very spacious and clean. We played tennis, basketball, swam, and played pool and ping pong in the game room. The bus stop to get to downtown Chania (15 mins away) was about a 2 minute walk down the street. We were able to rent a car right from the hotel which the man brought to us and picked up the next day (30E for 24 hours, all inclusive), since we only needed the car for one day trip to Knossos. The bakery next door had AMAZING treats, especially baklava. There were grocery stores, restaurants, minimarts all within 5 minutes walking. The price was great too! Definitely recommend! One suggestion...close your windows before it gets dark...one night we didn't and were eaten ALIVE by mosquitos. When we closed the windows we weren't bothered a bit.

Room Tip: We liked the 3rd floor for the view.

I lived at the Sissy from 2002-2003 while working for the us navy. Giorgos Gavrilakis, the owners son, along with other staff, were incredibly friendly & helpful. You can't go wrong staying at the Sissy. There is a bakery, market, taverna & beach close by, although there is no beach access. Still, the size of these apartments makes up for the fact that it's not walking distance to beach. You will not find large accommodations such as this anywhere else without paying $200-$500 per night. I have remained friends with owners over the years and visited many times since.
I loved being at the Sissy and you will too!

Room Tip: Ask for ocean view, all rooms have balconies.

This is a beautiful hotel - an oasis in a simple Greek suburban neighborhood. There was a very convenient bakery, sandwich place, and "3 little pigs taverna". The kitchen was well-equipped, the rooms quite spacious and comfortable. The staff was very helpful and
nice. My teenagers loved the pool with the diving board and the available Wi-Fi. Its only an eight euro taxi drive down to Chania town. I would definitely recommend Sissy Village Hotel!
