This was recommended by the various sources including the receptionist where we were staying. The food was very good and there was a relaxed atmosphere, though the staff were very professional. The food tended to be less fish focused, with a couple of lamb dishes, rabbit, mousaka etc. The starters were also very good. We liked it so much we went back twice. Be warned if you opt to pay by card, their credit card reader is very slow.

Sit in the old restaurant....a converted Turkish baths. Eat an interesting fusion of greek and more middle-eastern influenced cuisine....I loved the Iranian rice.

Stayed in the old part of Chania, Topanas, and the owner of our house recommended both Tamam and Portes. The meal in Tamam was exceptional. Three of us had the special Lamb,Yoghurt and Pitta and we all agreed it was our best meal in Crete. Our fourth member had their special Cretan Pie and was ecstatic about it - and this is from someone who appreciates good food and regularly inhabits Michelin-starred restaurants. Service very good and their commendation on wine was so good we went the next day to Manousakis vineyard itself to buy some of this nectar - Nestos Alexandras.

Loved this restaurant and visited twice during our week in Chania. Tucked down a side street with the restaurant in 2 rooms over the 2 sides of the street, also tables outside.
A good selection of food, daily specials and interesting wine as well as friendly, helpful waiting staff always with a smile

Thank Savannah B
