“Excellent food but service a slight let down”
Reviewed September 24, 2013

We visited this restaurant following the other excellent trip advisor reviews we had seen.

This restaurant is located in a beautiful quaint alleyway (next to Tavern Strata and Moutoupaki). Just for the ambiance it is worth visiting (it is far better compared to the restaurants along the harbour).

We were first greeted by some very delicious olives and some bread. Moving on to our mains, my boyfriend and I both had the sea bream filled with olives and sun viped tomatoes which was served with two small servings of different salads. This really was a very delicious meal and would want to have it again.

The only thing to let this restaurant down was the service that night. We went on a Saturday night around 9.30pm but the staff didn't have much enthusiasm especially when I enquired into the dishes they recommended. I did speak to one of the waiters and he appeared exhausted so I felt sorry for him. However even a simple smile goes a long way which I managed to get out of him. I would visit this restaurant again but perhaps on another evening as other people have said they received good service.

I would also recommend booking this place as all the restaurants located on this alleyway appear to get very busy especially if you would like a nice table.

Well worth the visit.

“So delicious, probably the best meal in Greece”
Reviewed September 23, 2013

Maybe it was the picture-perfect stroll along the water. Maybe it was the golden light shafting in from the flowers overhead. Maybe it was the quiet, back-alley location away from the swarming tourists. Maybe it was the unforced friendliness of the proprietor, whose name I sadly don't remember. But for whatever reason, this is the meal I recall most fondly from Greece. Perfect, fluffy bread mixed with tasty olive oil. A Greek cheese that was like ricotta - light, refreshing even. Marinated small fish (which I normally don't care for) that I practically fought my boyfriend to eat. Roasted goat, which we struggled to finish only because the portion was so gigantic and the paper-roasted fish we also ordered was also so delectable. We lingered for a long tme here.
P.S., there was a bathroom inside - always a plus!

“Fantastic food! Must be one of best in Chania.”
Reviewed September 22, 2013

We left this restaurant until late in our trip as we did not believe it could live up to the hype. We were wrong!

We have eaten at the best restaurants in town and this tops the lot thus far. Nice setting, great and affable service but best of all,was the inventive and original cuisine.

We had pickled squid and muskets to start followed by a lovely risotto and incredible spicy meat balks. The excellent bottle of red washed it all down.

The location is a bit out if the way but cosy and convivial all the same.

One word of warnings; they don't take cards, cash only. We were happy to cough up?.

If you have to eat Pizza for a few nights to afford this place ( which is no more expensive than its natural rivals) then do it as the reward will be worth it!

Cheers.

“Definitely the best along this street!”
Reviewed September 22, 2013

This restaurant changed our opinions of the way they serve food in Chania! We had two delicious starters and after haivng a nice break in between to let our food settle & relax with some vino, we were all geared up for our mains, which were again to our liking!
Susanna, the manager and also the lady running about making sure all is well with her customers was so friendly and catered to our every need!
it was a delight to come here, especially as we had such a terrible experience in the neighbouring Tavern Strata restaurant the night before.
We would definitely recommend this cute blue chaired restaurant to anyone!

“Grear Food”
Reviewed September 17, 2013 via mobile

We found a recommendation for this place in a guide otherwise we would have not chosen to eat there. But boy did we like the food. They have an interesting specials menu and also some interesting dishes especially when you are a bit tired of greek salad after a 2 week trip. The food was delicious and one of the best during our whole stay in Greece. Compared to other places it was inexpensive.
