“Does what it says on the tin!!”

We stayed here as a family, 4 adults and 1 child, whilst the hotel is not 5 star it certainly is adequate for a 2 week holiday. The room we had was basic but that was reflected in the price we paid, whilst the kitchen had no appliances etc, we just asked at reception and received a pan to boil water, cutlery and any thing else we required. Whilst breakfast was repetitive it was still more than adequate for our needs. The beach and town maybe a walk away but when leaving the hotel one way was the beach which took about 10 mins and 3 of the top restaurants as per tripadvisor, whilst the other direct took you to the lake which took approx 15 mins. If you really don't want to walk back to the hotel then a taxi would cost €6. The pool was good, yes it could have done with a bit of a clean but then it was only dirty as a result of people getting in the pool without showering! Overall I would recommend mikro village to friends etc on a budget as it has all the requirements for a cheap and cheerful holiday.

Am really not sure what's happened here? Time stood still since this was once self catering? Called a hotel with old hob and kitchen cupboards? This was probably the bees knees a few decades back?! Anyway we had 4 nights rubbish sleep here as the thin mattresses were on wooden homemade crates? The curtain only came halfway up the window so we had to use a blanket for a curtain! The bath enamel was chipping off and part of the sink was filled in. There was no hot water in the mornings and on one occasion there was none at all; this was on later as there was a low pressure problem in town; problem being this hotel is near the end of the supply.
The hotel has a distant sea view and is in the middle of nowhere and up a hill. Possibly due to the gardens Mosquitos have a field day and even with protection we sustained some of the worst bites I have ever seen! Walking to and from town you have to walk by some terrible smells from large communal bins and a nearby cesspit gave off a dreadful pong! You soon learn when to cross the roads to avoid these!
Was not impressed with being charged for air con but the safety deposit boxes which are behind reception are free. The buffet breakfast is basic and if you stay half board you get vouchers for a choice of 5 restaurants. The fitness centre is hilarious; didn't risk the pool. The only reason this is not a terrible is because the staff were friendly. Bins were emptied and a squirt of bleach got fired down the loo. Eventually got moved by our holiday company.

Booked this holiday with my wife and 4 children. It was a very good price with half board and the reviews didn't appear too bad. I wasn't expecting anything amazing but on arrival at 3am the manager was very helpful and put us in a very nice room.
The room was basic but adequate, the views from the balconies we had were very nice over the gardens, pool and sea.
The pool was very nice but could do with a clean, the bar manager Danni was great but unfortunately left after 3 years, did not meet the new one.
The hotel is at the edge of the town so you will need to walk a way to the restaurants for the half board. The selection is good but can get repetitive for food. The only one that served kids food was obelix.
A car is a must if you want to get around.
Staff, cooks, cleaners and receptionists are all friendly - could not fault. A little investment would go a long way but for the price we could not have expected any more than we got.
Overall I would recommend this as a good relaxing hotel. As for crete, this is what you make of it and we had a great time at Knossos, dikteon cave, dinosauria, aqua park, sitia, Minos Tolpou etc ... Crete is great but possibly better for couples than families.

The hotel was very disapointing. First of all it was the dirtiest hotel i've ever been to.
We stayed 3 days and they never changed the sheets or the towels. The walls had red spots from killed mosquitos
(RIP!). In some occasions the killed insects were steel there! The bathroom was never cleaned in 3 days!
The layer-colour of the bathtab was scraped off. For Gods' shake you had to pay extra for the air-condition use!
It was the first time in my life, that I was asked to pay extra money for the use of installed aircondition systems
in a hotel, worldwide. In the pool bar there was no sugar so if you wanted coffee it had to be black.
The first day we arrived they said there would be a power cut so we would not have electricity for 3 hours.
They never said we would not have water, too. There was no power generator and the water pumps didn't work.
The second day we also didn't have water until 11 am because the water tanks were empty!!
So 2 mornings out of 3, no water!
The brekfast was ready on time, but it had not that much variety.
The personnel was friendly and helpful.
Although the terrace and the garden is very nice and the basketball hoop in the pool has fun. There is lot of shadows around the pool because of the trees.
The general idea is that this hotel could serve to its residents a lot of more, but it is abandoned by the managers.
Even if we paid only 40 euros per night I will not recomended to anyone.

Room Tip: Be aware of the mosquitos!! There are a lot. The only way to sleep in this hotel, is to eliminate al...

This was one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in, we arrived early in the morning and were greeted by a grumpy door man, we were on a high floor and there was no lift, so we had to carry our heavy bags all the way up. When we got to our rooms, we discovered they were simply awful with mouldy bathrooms, ruined empty cabinets, dirty hobs, a tv which didnt work, and although we had already paid 200 pound for sea view, we got a view of unfinished buildings and couldn't really see the sea. Also the rooms were small, and had no towels. The phone didnt work to call reception, also the toilets didnt flush, the sink was blocked. It was amazing how awful it was, upon inspecting the pool, we saw cockroaches in it, and it was profusely dirty, and the water didnt seem to be chlorinated. After spending one night and one day there, we decided it wasn't for us. Although the bar man was nice, along with the manager trying to relocate us, everything else was poor. The bar was dirty, and the pool table was missing many balls and there was only one cue. The breakfast was awful, and the hotels gym was a collection of broken and rusting weights. Definitely not 3 stars, even though we were assured by the lady at the reception it was 3 and a half stars.

This hotel unfortunately lacks any investment and is obviously run on a shoestring. The rooms are very tired, we paid for superior room and were disappointed by the lack of facilities and state of disrepair, mould etc. The pool area is in similar poor condition, there was little evidence of regular cleaning and we didn't want to use it or spend any time there. The hotel location is not ideal for the town (30 mins walk, 15 to nearest beach, not a particularly good one incidentally). Breakfast is of a poor quality and not worth bothering with. It's only saving grace is the staff who are helpful and try to make the best of the situation. My recommendation would be to only stay in this hotel if you get rooms for a very good price (try and book direct) and only want to stay for a day or 2.

Room Tip: Book another hotel !

Thank you for your review about your stay.

I feel sorry that you are tricked into buying a superior room by your tour-agent as we don't have them or sell them online. We are a nice 3 star hotel with all basic facilities for a great holiday break or a stop for a few days when you are exploring the great Island of Crete.

As mentioned on our website and all website we directly sell our rooms at; stays we are located on a hill on the outskirts of Agios Nikolaos and its a 10/15 min walk downhill to the lovely nearest sandy beach of Ammoudi with free sun-loungers and umbrella's for beach guest. From the beach its a 10 min walk among the promenade to the city center of Agios Nikolaos with its great bars - restaurants and shopping center. If the tour-agent promised you something else I would make a reclamation with the agent who sold you the holiday stay.

We thank you for the advice to future guest to book with the hotel directly, not only will you receive a better rate for your room because you skip the middle agent you also will have a better connection and interaction with the hotelier and will not be tricked into falls promises and a disappointment afterwards.

I hope that your stay at our hotel did not stop you from enjoying all the fantastic and beautiful sights of Crete and we hope you will visited Crete again in the near future.

With kind regards,

Henricus Roozendaal
