Recently visited Plaka for the morning and decided to stop in Georgos taverna (Giovannis) for a cool beer and to marvel at the stunning view of Spinalonga. It was breathtaking. We were served two beautiful cold beers by a young lad called Yannis who also brought us complementary fresh anchovies. As it was pre lunch time he chatted to us and showed us the menu and his friendliness made us decide there and then to return the following night for dinner. We booked a table and Yannis promised the same lovely table at the window overlooking the sea. The next evening didn't disappoint in any way with the same fabulous welcome and excellent food washed down with excellent house wine. The restaurant soon filled up and had a great atmosphere. Would say it would definitely be best to book at night time. After dinner we were given raki on the house which we sipped as we watched the sun go down and Spinalonga sink into darkness and finally Yannis called us a taxi to take us home. The meal was beautiful and very reasonably priced and we were only sorry we hadn't found it on previous visits to Crete but we will be back. Young Yannis is definitely an asset to this restaurant and will make you very welcome.

I can't believe this place did not have more awesome reviews. They have multiple fresh daily fish/ lobster delivery from their family boat. Price was reasonable, 80 euro / kg lobster and 65 euro/ kg fish. Food was simply fantasticly well cooked. We had a 1.2 kg lobster+ escargot+ fried calamari+salad+mussels+ beer etc all for 160 euros!!! Unbelievable deal compare to their neighbor competitors (which we ate also the night before ). Definitely a must visit!!

Good fresh fish filleted at our table and lovely views towards Spinalonga. Very popular but worth a try.

Like all restaurants along the shoreline, you struggle to walk past due to the hard sell. To be fair the chap was pushing his fresh fish, caught by his father. You are then seated in a lovely open area but the sea and given a comprehensive menu - this annotates the dishes which are fresh vs those that are frozen because out of season. We were discouraged from ordering frozen main courses, but I would avoid anything frozen - indeed frankly I would order just the fresh fish. The meat dishes (chicken and lamb on skewers) were not good. The frozen calamari was tough, though another table that ordered fresh squid looked to have got the better choice. The tomato soup, bread and garlic bread were all great. The fresh sea bass was wonderful. If we had all ordered just this it would have been a wonderful meal - even if it did come alone - no vegetables or anything, just a plate of well filleted ( at the table) sea bass. Actually the fish was so good, that was fine, and some of us had Greek salad left over from the starters. The place had great character and the staff were on the whole friendly and helpful, though not very attentive. The guy in charge was great and could be seen running around making sure everyone was welcomed and indeed sent away with a shake of the hand. More attentive, perhaps, to the high spending tables. When we were done, it was quite a struggle to get the bill as attention had turned to a large group of high rollers - it took three attempts. But to be fair, the setting was so nice and the atmosphere so warm that this wasn't such a bad thing. Overall a very good restaurant, but order carefully - basically eat what they advise you to eat, don't bother with the menu.
