My friend and I took a trip on the little train(blue and white).we bought our tickets ftom a lovely lady, annetta, down at the harbour in elounda.(just along from where you buy tickets for the happy train(red and gold).
We opted for the three hour trip and were so pleased we did.The guide told us all about everywhere we passed through.history and local tales.of all the many times I have been to elounda this was the first time that I saw a kri kri.
We stopped off on the mounainside and learned more about spinalonga(which we had an amazing view of) as well as other history.we continued up the mountain to a villiage almost untouched through time, vrouhas.we walked around the village then on to a taverna where we could have cold drinks and eat.
Then we got back on the train and stopped off at some old windmills...we got to go inside and it was yet another step back in time.we returned to elounda bay and left feeling that that day would never be forgotten......the many photographs that I took will always take me back,.....and the smell of wild thyme.

Thank you for your review . We are trying to get a listing on trip advisor for our Elounda train but they seem to keep getting us mixed up with the happy train. Will make sure Anetta see's this review and I am glad to hear that you had a great time out with us

Take the short tour to find your way around Ag Nik, and the coast road. The guide is multi-lingual and very informative.

when you like to see the local school (anno 1989), the local hospital (anno 1973), some construction areas and a small part of the harbor this is your tour. We didn't like it! Beside that the sound system in the train was that bad that it was almost impossible to understand the guide.

Somehow my review has shown up on the Elounda site. So....... we took the 31/2 trip which was lovely. Trundling along we could see lots more than from a coach. Visited a olive oil farm which involved much wine, raki & olive product tasting, Yummee. Also visited a very pretty church and a traditional village. Very pleasant trip do try it.

What a lovely little jaunt around the town, for some reason everyone waves and smiles when they see the train. There is not that many historical sites to see but it the equivalent of the open top bus for Ag Nic. Great for both small and big kids alike.
