We arrived with no transfers booked, paid 70 Euros for a taxi but on the return journey we were brave enough to get the local bus, air conditioned I might add, for the lowly price of 7 Euros. We stayed in Room 404 which was spotlessly clean and had a sea-view to die for. Just up stairs is the immaculately kept pool area and snack bar, run by the all-seeing, all-knowing Chrissie - as one previous reviewer said, "every holiday needs a Chrissie"! She is a font of local information and knowledge. A trip to Plaka and then the fishing boat over to Spinalonga is a necessity. Elounda is a beautiful town but the beach is very pebbly. There is a large sandy beach in Ag Nik called Almiross - we got a taxi there for 5 euros and enjoyed the walk back to the Alantha. However, on our last day we found Almoudi Beach which is a 2 minute walk from the Alantha, walking down the stairs to the sea front and turning left. Would recommend Alantha and Ag Nik for everyone and will definitely make it an annual holiday destination.More
